They were rotating him and Julian Wilson, I think he actually started against ULM, and he came in full time when Colvin got hurt.

Is Wilson a senior? Seems like he is a lot taller than Zach. I appreciate Zach's instincts against Bama to pick off McCaron and take it back but he got burned a lot this year. Maybe just taking his freshman lumps.

If I recall at the beginning of the season Cortez Kennedy was suppose to start but he got that DUI in the offseason, and Sanchez took his place for a couple of games. Sanchez played so well they just kept him as starter.

who gone and who's returning and who's new..

OU football: Sooners should be stout in 2014, but there are a few question marks | News OK

NORMAN — Oklahoma's 2014 season opener against Louisiana Tech is seven months away, but after the Sooners' 45-31 upset of Alabama in the Sugar Bowl, next year could easily become the most anticipated OU football season in a long time.

Of course, every season presents challenges as key contributors graduate, leaving Oklahoma with a few question marks entering 2014 spring practices.

Here is a look at three position groups that must replace a significant amount of lost experience in 2014.

DEFENSIVE BACKFIELD

Who's gone: Aaron Colvin*; Kass Everett; Gabe Lynn*

Who's back: Dakota Austin (So.); Hatari Byrd (So.); Quentin Hayes (Sr.)*; Cortez Johnson (Jr.)*; L.J. Moore (RFr.); Zack Sanchez (So.)*; Stanvon Taylor (So.)*; Ahmad Thomas (So.); Julian Wilson (Sr.)*

Who's new:
Marcus Green; Vontre McQuinnie; Tito Windham

Analysis: Colvin leaves a giant void on one side of the field. The two-time All-Big 12 cornerback will likely be replaced by Taylor, Austin or Johnson. … Byrd seems like the likely candidate to replace Lynn at free safety. … Hayes (SS), Sanchez (CB) and Wilson (NB) all return after starting the entire season.

WIDE RECEIVERS

Who's gone: Lacoltan Bester*; Jaz Reynolds*; Jalen Saunders*

Who's back: Austin Bennett (So.); Dannon Cavil (RFr.); Trey Franks (Sr.)*; Durron Neal (Jr.)*; Sterling Shepard (Jr.)*; Jordan Smallwood (RFr.); Derrick Woods (So.); K.J. Young (RFr.)
Who's new: Mark Andrews; Jeffery Mead; Dallis Todd

Analysis: Saunders became the Sooners' most dynamic playmaker on both offense and special teams by the end of his career. He could play both inside and outside. … Woods made a career-long 20-yard catch in the Sugar Bowl, and could make a push for a starting spot. … Shepard returns as one of the Sooners' best overall players, and will assume a more significant leadership role with the unit as a junior. … Franks was suspended the entire 2012 season, moved to safety and then switched back to offense midway through last season. … Todd will enroll early and join the Sooners for spring workouts.

RUNNING BACKS

Who's gone: Brennan Clay*; Roy Finch*; Trey Millard*; Damien Williams*

Who's back: Daniel Brooks (So.); Keith Ford (So.); Aaron Ripkowski (Sr.)*; Alex Ross (So.); David Smith (So.)

Who's new: Dmitri Flowers; Joe Mixon; Samaje Perine

Analysis: Ford averaged 5.8 yards on his 23 rushes last season as a true freshman. He enters 2014 as the likely starting running back. … Mixon, a five-star prospect and the nation's No. 1 all-purpose back according to Rivals, will likely make an immediate impact on the offense as a ballcarrier and receiver out of the backfield. … Ross is immensely talented, but needs to continue maturing before he'll see significant action. … Ripkowski returns as the clear No. 1 fullback after assuming the role when Millard suffered a season-ending knee injury in late October.

— *: Started at least one game in 2013.

OU lands verbal commitment from Houston DB Jordan Thomas

Northwestern commit since December 2012. Was hosted by Zack Sanchez. Another solid get.

That would be amazing...I'll admit I don't see it happening. But as Lloyd Christmas said, "so your telling me there's a chance"

Because of this, I saw that Kendall Randolph said OU is out of contention.

I'm not completely sold on him myself...there's a tinge of...how you say...thuggishness present?

I'm not saying the young man isn't worth a scholly...I'm just sayin'. Seen this movie before.

Kentucky was the best he could do? Damn, wouldn't Kansas have been a better choice than that?

Kentucky ain't so bad. Southern Bells, bluegrass scenery. Nice weather with a mix of all seasons.

Kansas is meh...

On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the great chance of him coming to OU. I'd say about a 3. Yeah, OU is in his top 5 or 6 and still "in" it, but the word out on the street he favors....UF. Could be wrong, but some folks say that Adoree is really a two sport athlete with an emphasis in track-n-field, specifically the long jump. He is one of the most talented jumpers in the nation and something that he is passionate about. UF has a great program as does LSU.

yup.

I don't hold my breath...and don't think he would be a good fit here. Regardless of how talented he is.

Well what big time prospects do we still have a good chance of landing? I know that most of these guys don't pan out but it sure doesn't look good to see OU around 20 in the recruiting rankings. I would like to see us get some of the sure bets for a change. I remember us being in the final two for Julio Jones. I watched his high school clips and knew he would play right away. Same with AD. Of course if you look at the 2010 class which was OU's last bigtime class it didn't really pan out. Clay, Jefferson, and Stills being the Cali trio did some good things for OU but they never won a championship. I wanna see the pieces brought in that will help us from a 2 loss team to a no loss team. I guess that would be DT's and O-line because you can't win one of those crystal balls without good lines.

I thought Oklahoma had climbed into the top 15 by a fingernail.
