Ranking this week's rivalry games

These are clearly the top 4...
1. Auburn - Alabama (Obvious)
2. OhSU - Michigan (about like FSU-UF, but I think Michigan has better shot at upset so higher)
3. FSU - Florida (not much hope for UF, but big rubberstamp for FSU to stay in NC contention)
4. USC - Clemson (#10 vs. #6, a lot to gain or lose, especially for Clemson)

Next tier...
5. Oregon - Oregon State
6. wUSC - UCLA
7. Is Duke - UNC considered an all-sports rivalry?
8. UGA - GT

Others?

BTW, I'm not talking about the competitiveness of the games, more their significance. But rank them however you want by whatever criteria (competition, importance to team, importance to big picture...). I'm just looking for opinions (this will probably be my column tomorrow).

Yeah, it's considered a rivalry. They play for a bell. It didn't use to be a rivalry but it has become that because the students grew up with UNC and Duke being known as one of the biggest rivalries in sports because of basketball. For the players, this is a "rivalry" game but it's Duke's biggest rivalry game and not UNCs.

All other sports Dook is the biggest rivalry though.

And, I not everyone has the same opinion as me, a lot of students will tell you that Duke is THE biggest rivalry.

Also, I'd say that UNC - Dook is pretty significant considering Dook wins the Coastal with a win.

There's an awful lot of anger and vitriol involved in most ASU/Arizona games. People who haven't followed it or been involved it probably don't understand how deep the animosity runs. It's a core, institutional thing with the schools stemming from Arizona functionally trying to stop ASU from ever coming into being.

It's less of a "We'll get you next year" sort of rivalry and more of an "I hope you die cold and alone" thing. Frankly, it needs to lighten up a bit.
