This is one of those situations where Sam's stock is currently very low. However, he is now in the NL with a clean stats slate which might help his psyche a bit. Fresh start, new ballpark (pitcher friendly) and we all know from last year and the WBC Sam has talent. So the Rangers sold low and the Giants bought low. The Giants could reap a huge reward out of this and if they do, we collect on the 'dividends.' Not to mention given the Giants are perennial favorites to contend deep in playoffs, if Sam can perform for them as a 7th inning guy or set up man, he may have a roster slot there for years to come. The Giants are also struggling with closers, so the sky is the limit there as well.

The Giants have good pitching coaches maybe they can fix him.

Brocail sucks.... I know people don't agree, but I think our pitching has gone down hill since Maddox left.

Numbers don't agree, but hey don't let facts cloud your judgement

I'm not a fan of Brocail or anything but minus a couple peak years under Maddux with Wilson, Holland, Harrison and others pitching really well they numbers are about the same, the difference between those years is injuries and loss of talent, not the pitching coach

Whenever Maddux had lesser talent or had to contend with injuries the numbers are pretty similar

I can't explain it, but in 27 innings for the Giants he's allowed 6 ER, vs 24 in 24 for you guys, not that it's doing us any good with our absent offense. Good luck with the Wild Card race, and what a race it will be!!!! Hmm, no YD tho.
