I don't think he's gonna make it , but I hope he proves me wrong . Of course if we'd traded him , he would've turned into another Chris Davis
I think he needs some time away from baseball. His confidence is absolutely shot.

Working today. Glad to see we won. Looked at the box score and love what Darvish gave the team today. Not to mention Andrus had a pretty good day too! :)

got torched in the 8th and 9th, and the Mariners lost to Minny. Both at 81 wins are not likely to make playoffs, both are getting close to being mathematically eliminated at this point. Stros 3 back w 7 to play, they gave up 17 runs in the 8th and 9th in the last 2 games.

Saw that box score. Wow. 5 is the elimination number for the Stros. They are not going to make it. It is now a three team race. So is the case for the NL WCs. Plugging for the magic Mets. :)

One of about 5 non Rangers I loved to root for...

We better not find out any alcohol was involved. I read they were operating at speed with no light or radar...So that means I doubt life jackets or other safety was even kept in mind. If this is true then it's just a stupid avoidable death. No less tragic, but makes me more angry than sad.

Baseball America named Jorge Alfaro their minor league catcher of the year.

Seems his D has greatly improved.

The latest report said that speed was definitely a factor and that nobody was wearing life jackets. Although after hearing that their boat collided with the jetty, I'm not sure whether life jackets would have saved them or not. This awful accident reminds me a lot of the one that killed Steve Olin and Tim Crews. Although their crash was on a lake, it was still caused by excessive speed and hitting a pier. I do have to wonder what they were thinking boating at 3 am. Even with proper equipment, things can go wrong in a hurry with no visibility like that.

Also, Don Mattingly has got to be wondering if Jose would still be alive today if he hadn't pushed his start back from Sunday to Monday to give him an extra day of rest. Maybe Jose isn't out boating late into the night if he's starting the next day at noon. Of course it's not Mattingly's fault, but you just know that he will forever question that decision in his mind.

So tragic.
