Said to be out all summer, he might as well be shut down for the season too. At this point what difference will it really make. I see a likely surgery in his future as well

Jake Smolinski latest Texas player to land on DL

Rangers outfielder Jake Smolinski has yet to run at full speed since suffering a small cracked bone in his left foot on a foul ball last week, MLB.com reports.

"I'll be fine," Smolinski said. "But it's always frustrating to not be on the field with your teammates. I'm just trying to stay positive and control everything I can control right now, and do my best to get back out there."

Smolinski is eligible to come off the disabled list next Wednesday, but that remains unlikely until he can run without issue. He has hit .389/.450/.472 in 36 at-bats over 11 games.
