It's time for Edsall to go. 0-10 against ranked team and .433 percentage against FCS teams with a winning record.

Kevin Anderson is not much of an AD for giving him an extension. Maryland deserves better.

I hate seeing anyone lose their job, but if true, this the one exception.

If (4-8) in year two isn't good enough at Maryland, it shouldn't be at Texas.

If OSU doesn't win this game by 40, I fully endorse dropping them in the polls.

Be honest. If you had to pick Mike Riley or Charlie Strong to lead your program for the next 10 years. Who would you pick?

The Maryland athletic department is one of the biggest jokes in the country. They were so saddled with debt, it forced them to go to the B1G. I personally think Kevin Anderson is an awful AD. He fired Friedgen to hire Edsall, which was a huge mistake. The 10 years before Ralph got there Maryland won 34% of their games. Friedgen had them winning 60% of their games, and now Edsall has won 37% of his games, and it'll only get worse the longer he's there.

Honestly the B1G couldn't have added two worse run athletic departments in Maryland and Rutgers. The instability within those athletic departments is quite alarming.

There are going to be some openings at some big programs after this season...Potentially Strong, Beamer, maybe even Spurrier...

Might as well try to get out ahead of the game.

Maryland should jump at the chance if Strong is available. He would be a good fit there. The other 2 will probably just retire.

Maryland's problem is with its financial ruin. It is downright ugly and a mess.

They are the only school who changed conferences for MONEY and MONEY alone....desperate to do anything.
They would have joined the PAC-12 for a few nickels more.

They fired Ralph Friedgen because he brought no buzz ($$$$$ and ticket sales) to the program.
it had nothing to do with Wins and Losses. He was a boring corpse who was dulling the fans into apathy.
They gambled that somebody else could be exciting and charismatic.
Edsall unfortunately cannot win games or sell tickets either.

The next guy will likely be hired from the WWE in a desperate attempt to generate spectacle.

You're assuming the problems with MD's athletic department are still there. That problem left for NC State a couple of years ago. Outside of football MDs athletic teams are pretty good. If you're trying to improve your football program, why would you keep Friedgen? His last 7 years when he had to start using the players that he recruited were nothing special. Sure Edsall was not the right choice, but a change was needed.

There's a difference between having good athletic programs and having a good athletic department. The athletic department had a 3.5 million operating loss for the 2014 fiscal year, which nearly tripled the operating loss for 2013. They still have significant debt as well. If they weren't in such an awful financial situation they wouldn't have left for the B1G. Did you see President Loh's press conference when they announced the move? He didn't exactly hide the fact that this move was about money and money only.

And there is nothing wrong with wanting to improve the football program. But you have to know the expectation of that football program. Winning 60% of the games at Maryland is a great success. Especially considering what's happened since then and what happened before Friedgen.

I'd back up the brinks truck to see if rich rod would want the MD gig. But odds are Maryland will have to settle for a group of 5 coach or an assistant somewhere. Maryland at best is the 8th best gig in the B1G. Tough to really sell that to a top tier coach.

If they were hiring solely on the fact to bring more buzz to the football program, why hire a guy who was 4 games over .500 at UCONN who's in his early to mid 50's? Which gets me back to how poor of an AD Kevin Anderson is. James Franklin was an obvious choice.

I would offer PJ Fleck at WMU. He has done a good job recruited very well for the MAC and has given MSU and OSU tough games.

Better to get a guy on his way up than hoping your guy isn't on his way down

Of course the move was because of money. Do you know why MD was in debt? Like I said, that problem is at NC State now. Why can't MD have better success than what you are inferring? Up until the Len Bias death, MD had a good program.
