So the team will have to make the Geno Smith decision well before the draft. If he's re-signed for starter money on a multi year deal, you still would advocate for Stroud at 1.5??

I just don't see any way that we draft a QB if we re-sign Geno unless we put a LOT of outs in the contract.

If we sign Geno and draft a quarterback, I only see us doing it on day 3…

Yeah, unless it's an effective 2 year or less deal, it's absurd to commit cap space AND your draft capital on 2 rosters spots at a position where you only play 1 guy. Otherwise, you end up putting yourself in the position that GB is in right now with Jordan Love. The dude hasn't even played, but the Packers have to decide this off-season whether to exercise the 5th year option since they blew a 1st round pick on him 3 years ago. Since they drafted Love, Rodgers has made north of $70M. The 2 picks immediately after GB took Love: Jordyn Brooks and Patrick Queen.

That's a different take. If the FO gives Geno a contract early than they should draft defense with their first pick.

Ok, got it. Just trying to clarify what you meant. If this team doesn't have a starting QB at draft time, then Stroud would be a logical choice.

Yes. I'm hoping the FO gets this deal done quick with Geno so they can focus on what defensive players they need on day 1 and 2.

Listening to recent statements from both PC and Geno, to me it sounds like there's strong mutual interest to continue the relationship. Now probabl just a matter of making the $$ work.

I read that as well. I'm optimistic a deal gets done well before FA opens up.

Feb. 21-March 7: Teams may use the franchise or transition tag on impending unrestricted free agents.
If there isn't a contract for Geno by March 7th then he gets tagged and they'll continue to talk. I can't see the FO allowing Geno walk into FA.

I see the Seahawks holding their ground as far as commitment to Geno. They'll offer a contract but not one that ties them to him for multiple years, nor would they pay him Franchise money. Think Geno would love to stay but some team will be willing to go further than the Seahawks will and Geno will sign else where.

If all this happens then what's option D?

Draft BPA at positions of need, start with QB and work down. Some players that could be of good value are Sewell and Ika and there are a lot of good pass rushers this draft, find a better center. If signing FA better to sign good ones at positions that are not cost inflated like the QB position is.

Not a fan of the other QBs.

Drew sanders is another LB that would be a good pick. Can play inside and has pass rush ability. Projected to go in round 2
