Through four weeks here is how the Eagles are viewed on PFF: (position grades)
Offense
QB
Wentz - 11th

HB
Blount - 6th
Smallwood - 35th (out of 57)

WR
Agholor - 29th
Jeffries - 60th
T. Smith - 100th (out of 108)

TE
Ertz - 9th
Celek - 51st (out of 66)

T
Peters - 2nd
Johnson - 5th

G
B. Brooks - 10th
Wisniewski - 17th
Seumalo - 71st (out of 74)

C
Kelce - 2nd

Defense
CB
P. Robinson - 4th
Douglas - 67th
J. Mills - 88th (out of 111)

S
M. Jenkins - 50th
McLeod - 79th (out of 82)

LB
Kendricks - 9th
Bradham - 70th
Hicks - 81st (out of 84)

Defensive Interior
Jernigan - 10th
Cox -20th
B. Allen - 42nd (out of 120)

Edge Rushers
Graham - 8th
Curry - 40th
Barnett - 71st
C. Long - 96th (out of 103)

Basically it appears Eagles have a top end talent at most positions. CB is going to be less of a concern when Darby comes back and moves Douglas to #2 corner. S and LB play has dropped significantly from last year (only Kendricks graded poorly last year). WRs are not really good still. Kelce's grade is heavily driven by his run blocking performance, and not having to cover for the gaping hole that was Seumalo. My eyes just don't see this as the best O-Line in the game and that is where they grade out at right now...

I can see it based on a couple factors. The first being the onslaught the Eagles faced the first 2 games after passing 75% of the time and no one respecting the run. Wentz was under a lot of pressure but Pederson asked too much of the offensive line. They did a good job giving him some time and he always seemed to have a good pocket to work from.

The other reason is the newly discovered running game. This team has done a good job at run blocking. Some of the play calls are suspect IMO but as a whole I think they have done a fantastic job.

PFF is a joke. Anyone who has watched us play has seen that our OL has not been good.

I find that the outliers are really really bad. Hicks as one of the worst LBs in football or Kelce the 2nd best C, but the non-outlier ratings are pretty reliable and accurate.

I think this is a really good team with a balanced roster that is finding ways to win games with a lot of key players hurt. If they return to health, this squad will be a monster by the end of the year.

The rest of the Olines are worse.

PFF rankings are odd. Long had 2.5 sacks and a strip sack last week and splits time and that makes him one of the worst DE? Hicks too? I wonder how they found 8 TE playing better than Ertz?
Lastly they are right on T Smith 10 catches and 4 drops for a starting WR
He has been a major disappointment

Unless he turns it around, he won't be back next year. Hope we can land a stud RB n the 1st, and also a stud WR while we're at it.

I've had enough of Torrey Smith ... that big drop on a perfect seam pass last week that very well could have gone for a 70 or 80 yard TD was the last straw for me. I have no clue why we refuse to work in Hollins more ... I think the Wentz/Hollins connection could be explosive once Hollins gets in there for good.

Since they drafted Hollins to play the slot, would you move Agholor to the outside?

I agree with Rey, Hollins needs more PT in this offense. Smith seems to be good only for a handful of splash plays, but not consistent enough to be a #2 anymore. And the frustrating part with Smith is the one thing he's supposed to be good for he's not executing early on. I think he'll come around eventually.

I think Hicks has been bothered by that ankle more than he's letting on, doesn't look as explosive to the ball as he usually is.

We do need another stud calibre LB to go along with Hicks. Hopefully, Kendricks has turned the corner, and is going to permanently be a very good LB'er. As the season goes on, we'll take a look at top prospects by position to get ready for next year's draft. But, let's enjoy what we have going on right now.

They drafted him for the slot?? I'd put Hollins on the outside and let him run. Agholor and Ertz can work the middle.

Did they, or is that what the pundits made of it?

I would try Hollins outside. Agholor seems to be quite good in the slot/outside where he is now. Not sure if outside WR works for him. And currently he is quietly doing a pretty nice job in his new position.

Smith can't catch anything but he needs to be on the field because we have no one else to keep safeties honest. It will be tough tough sledding for Wentz if Smith's snap count is reduced.

Next year - Dante Pettis, WR, Washington. He'll be our PR/KR, and speed WR.

It seems to me, they put Hollins in (as the physical receiver) in place of Jefferies. Notice they rarely run them both at the same time. The play calling seems to use WR 'sets' very interchangeably. I wish they would give Hollins more playing time along side Jefferies and Agholor as well.

On the Ertz asepct - only one TE had a better receiving grade (Kelce) but Ertz was the worst in run blocking and 7th worst in pass blocking, which knocked him down a bit.

Hollins in his limited time has graded just a hair below Jeffries - so basically way better than Smith at this point. Speed is important but not sure it is important enough to be giving Smith playing time.

True, Ertz can't block or break a tackle

Smith will be the WR2 receiver for now. But if he doesn't improve, then after the bye week, I wouldn't be surprised if Hollins takes over his spot. They don't want to pay Smith $5M to be a backup, so they give him some time.
