I'm a little late on this one, and hopefully it doesn't screw with our luck!

But we're off to a bad start. Sanchez was awful. Gomez is settling things down at least a little bit, though.

The Pirates and Cardinals come into tonight's game with only a half game separating them atop the Central Division standings, 13-9 for the Pirates and 13-8 for the Cardinals. It would be nice to take two of three from them, and the division lead.

The other two pitching matchups in the series are Burnett (1-2) vs. Westbrook (1-1) and Locke (2-1) vs. Miller (3-1).

Go Bucs!

Sanchez never got a chance to settle down, facing 3 batters before getting immediately thrown out for hitting a batter (and Hurdle for arguing). Then Marte was HBP 2 times in a row by the same Cardinals pitcher, and nothing was done, except to throw out Jay Bell for arguing. Who in St. Louis paid off this ump?

What is more than fishy about it was that as soon as the batter was hit, the ump made the eject motion. You had to see it to to unbelieve it. I just sat there in disbelief.

This game was over after the 1st. Pirates have been demoralized, and not by themselves or the other team.

Speaking for myself, the 2nd week of May can't get here fast enough for me.

Then, we can finally have Liriano & Morton stretched out, call the both of them up & at last, DFA Jonathan Sanchez & get him the hell off of this roster.

Just Awful!

Sanchez suspended for 6 games. If he pitches for the Pirates again I'm gonna be pissed off.

That little smile on AJ's face said, "You better give me that call next inning, blue" to me.

In that at bat against Jay, he threw a pitch very much in the strike zone on that side of the plate and didn't get the call.

He was fighting it in the sixth, but 6 innings and 2 runs isn't a bad outing.

But he looked either very tired or very bothered by the rain.

We need some offense now, though, regardless.

Now would be a good time for McCutchen to break out of his slump...

RBI Walk! Pirates out front!

And that almost was the insurance run, but it bounced right back to Molina.

And the ground ball brings in the insurance run.

Shame we couldn't get more out of that, but a four-run inning is still solid. And now we hand the bullpen a lead, and I usually feel good about doing that.

late inning magic. that is good for more than just a win when you comeback and get rewarded for never quitting.
melancon and grilli are awesome.
watson has rebounded from a disappointing spring training and we got watson and wilson as tough lefties that can also get righties out as well.

lets dump sanchez, give a AAA guy like irwin or oliver an audition and a chance to get used to MLB, then we have liriano and morton, then cole as re-enforcements.

we still have black and morris and welker in AA for the BP as well.

it would be awesome to win a 8-2 game and give everybody a rest. all our wins our close grinders.

I think once McCutchen starts playing like McCutchen again, we'll start scoring earlier in games. And that has to be soon. He's too good a player for it not to be.
