Matt Kemp, Justin Upton, Wil Myers and Derek Norris? Shit I wish my Mariners had that kind of offseason.

Padres may very well have the best outfield in the majors. Can't really think of a team off of the top of my head with a better outfield.

Kemp and Myers are still somewhat injury question-marks and both have potential clubhouse issues as well.

The Padres now have 4 legit starting OFers. That was a shit-show in LA last season. How will it go over in SD?

I like what SD has done (on the major-league level, at least; their system has been decimated). I just think that there are some rather large "ifs" with the guys they have acquired.

I would make a bet that Seth Smith is moved for a SS.

I like what we've done, and it's definitely a step up. If Kemp and Myers can stay healthy we have a definite shot at a wild card.

So the NL has 2 super competitive divisions and the one that the Nationals win by default. You're slacking NL East...

Good time to be a Padres fan. Very exciting for the fans.

He has to clear out the OF. He does that, and maybe he restocked some of the system.

I have been kinda critical of the moves, but I actually like what they are doing, in a macro-sort of way. I listened to XX 1090 for a bit today, and boy were they excited for the Pads. I have never heard that kind if excitement from them.

The new group needed to make a semi-splash to get the fans attention. I think they have done that. Now, will they be able to translate into meaningful games in mid to late September?

7 out top 8 threads have some reference of the Padres moves...

Hammertime is alone in his mancave with his "do not disturb" sign on the door. His dream for this sight is complete.

Seth Smith had a pretty good year with a 3.9 WAR and a .807 OPS. I'd imagine they could flip him for a decent SS. Would not be surprised if the Mariners were interested.

The Padres are making the Giants look like fools.

About damn time.

Three legit aces even if Josh Johnson doesn't materialize.

Whether or not the Padres get Hamels or not they've had a great off-season and will be a team to watch in the NL West.

3?

If healthy, Cashier can be an Ace. But health is a HUGE question with him.

Shields is a lower-end #1, not an Ace.

Who are you calling your 3rd Ace?

Put it this way, cal...

Madison Bumgarner would have a tough time making the Padres rotation.

Maybe he could platoon at first? :noidea:
