lucie is still a good player. Still always good to see Eugenie move on. Hopefully she'll have a good run this week.

Denis ended up losing to Dimitrov, but man oh man, the future looks bright for this kid. Did you know he is only 17 years old?

Bouchard plays round 3 tonight, hoping her Round 3 performance is as good as her Round 2 1 was.

I don't care who you are playing, a top 10 player or a qualifier, you're not going to win when you commit 74 unforced errors. My goodness, that was ugly.

I agree, Genie has it in her to be a top tier player but she can never get it together. Shame too because she's very marketable. Can't be acting like she did last night when she was losing, you have to be more relaxed and focused. Oh well Raonic is still there. Got to think he wins a grand slam within the next year.

Good NY Times article on the rise of tennis in Canada...

Another contributing factor is immigration. Raonic was born in Montenegro, but his family moved to Brampton, Ontario, when he was a toddler. Andreescu’s parents are from Romania. Shapovalov was born in Israel to Russian parents, who moved to Canada a year later. Auger-Aliassime was born in Montreal, but his father is from Togo.

“I’m proud of that, and that’s a reflection of Canada,” said Murumets, the Tennis Canada president. “Tennis is the No. 1, 2 or 3 new sport of 75 percent of new Canadians, and we should try to capture their enthusiasm.”

Good to see Raonic win his match, looks like Bouchard's could be headed for a quick exit, lost 1st set of her match, up 2-1 though in the 2nd set as I type.

Geez, Genie out yesterday, Vasek and Milos out today. Worst US Open in some time.

And no Federer either, so I can't even cheer for him to have a swan song major now that Milos is out. I guess I'll cheer for Nishikori?

The product of Thornhill, Ont., didn't feel 100 per cent for most of the match. He said it was more than just some cramping that altered his play.

"Numerous things — left arm, right forearm towards the end of the third set, both quads, hip flexor on the left," said Raonic.

"Really painful cramps started to pass in the third set but then I got small ones where I couldn't hold the raquet and switch grips from one shot to the next."

Milos Raonic - I never play bad, I'm just always hurt when I lose.

He was Joe Namath strug-gle-ing out there, heck he was moving slower than I do on a tennis court yesterday and you can time my 40 yard dash with a sundial. With all the guys helping him out, you'd think somebody would remind Milos of the importance of staying hydrated.

It was 88 in NYC yesterday. If pre-match and in-game hydration and sugar levels were a concern that's some bush-league shit and he should be firing every coach he can find today, even guys that don't even work for him. Hire them on the spot and then fire them immediately.

Sometimes your body just has an off-day. It's happened to Nadal, Djokovic, etc... and I think the bigger you are, the prone you are to injuries in a sport like tennis.

That said, it does seem like Raonic is injured a lot when he loses. You start to wonder how much of that is injury, and how much is "injury". Or at least you wonder if, when losing, he starts giving into the aches and pains a little more.
