The Cowboys should play Dak only 1 quarter or perhaps even less in the last preseason game. How can you face your fan base and hope to instill any confidence and excitement for the upcoming season if Jamille Showers is the starter? How often do we see the starting QB and the backup go down in one preseason cycle? I wouldn't mind if they didn't play him at all.

Prescott is young and a QB, he needs as many reps against 1st string defenses as he can get

I hear what you're saying, but if you consider what has already transpired with Romo and the start of the season being so close, I just don't think it's worth the risk. It will be interesting to see how they approach it.
