Tyler Wilson suffered an oblique injury during his warmup tosses Sunday at Triple-A Norfolk.

Wilson is set to undergo an MRI. If it reveals a strain, he might not be an option for the Orioles until sometime in mid-September. The 25-year-old right-hander has looked sharp this season at the major league level, posting a 2.19 ERA in 24 2/3 innings. He was probably a week away from being recalled.

1. Technically, the season was over before it even started (!) given the organization's relative inactivity during the 2014-15 offseason.

2. The problem is that they should have finished the fire sale of upcoming free agents two weeks ago. Since the Orioles didn't do that, they might as well re-sign Chen (for the reasons I've previously outlined here), and possibly Davis as well (I think 3.3 WAR makes him worth re-signing if Angelos is willing to pay). Why? Because I'm not sure whether compensatory picks are going to help much unless there are plenty of them (the organization's recent track record in terms of player development isn't that good).

(By the way, it's not too late to tank the rest of the season for a better draft pick. It's still mathematically possible to pass the Phillies for dead last if they try hard enough...)
