I thought Oregon State would be much improved under Anderson in his 2nd season there. I think they'll be a much better team this season. I'll take them straight up in this one.

At first saw just Oregon in title and thought was another premature OD game thread

That's an awfully sharp looking stadium.

CSU -3.5 seems high. I see it as a coinflip game. Oregon State should be improved and even though CSU only won seven games last year, they have a high powered offense and are at home. Should be a dandy.

Apparently CSU has conference realignment vision in their future.

agreed, this is a fairly intriguing game. Even though they sucked last year, they were competitive in the majority of the games they played (save for Colorado and Washington). They gave Stanford a pretty decent game and they nearly upset Wazzu.

I don't think CSU lost much from last year's offense which averaged more than 45 points per game during the last half of last season.

Kind of excited to see how Luton does for the Beavs too. Dude put up some pretty crazy numbers in the JC ranks.

Probably going to be a shootout, should be a fun way to start the season.

Anderson's a pretty good coach when he has his players in his system. Being his 3rd year may be a bit premature, but I'll go with the Beavers.

This game was a toss-up for me, both teams will be greatly improved.

Actually a very solid game to kick off the season

Not sure how you come to the conclusion that both teams will be greatly improved. The jury is still out on Bobo as a head coach. He's been playing with McElwain's players the last two seasons and went (7-6) respectively.
It usually takes a couple years for the slide to become evident. Oregon under Helfrich is a prime example of that. (11-2), (13-2), (9-4), (4-8).

I'm a bigger believer in Bobo than you are, they struggled early last year but by midseason they figured things out and were very good. Most of the reasons for their offensive surge return this year. Certainly It's no guarantee but I like their odds.

I don't see 'very good'. Not as good as under McElwain's last season.
They went (2-2) in their last 4 games. They gave up 61 points to Idaho in the Tater Bowl. A month to prepare and gave up 61 pts.
They went (4-3) in the last 7 games. What I'd consider mid-season and beyond.
Bobo has nothing for a head coaching pedigree. This is his first rodeo.
There are a mountain of coordinators (O and D) who couldn't find success as a head coach.
To me the jury is still out on whether Bobo will ever be better than a mediocre mid-major coach.
Gotta go with Anderson heading into his 3rd year, HIS recruited underclassmen, and whatever Riley left in the cupboard as Jr's/Sr's.
Avi bet for a week? I'll take the Beavs.
