I mean, it's definitely possible that Muzzin sucks on the Leafs because their top 4 is now entirely lefties, while Durzi goes on to become the new Muzzin in LA and Grundstrom becomes a good second liner.

The Leafs could also miss the playoffs and that draft pick could become a lottery pick.

Wouldn't call this a win for the Leafs yet.

If the Leafs First becomes a lottery pick, there is a whole lot more wrong with that team then this trade.

I like the trade. Not scoping out my spot on the parade route just yet, but I like it. Saw a comparison on NHL Network (yes I know, but it was the stats, not the commentator) of Muzzin and Hainsey. Oh dear Lord, this is such an upgrade. Unlike some who see this as a guarantee of Gardiner's departure, I see it as a stone cold lead pipe cinch that Hainsey is gone after this year. Yes, I know he is UFA but no chance they consider resigning, at any price. Gardiner, yeah I can see him resigning at the right price.

I'm not necessarily convinced Jake is going to finish the season with the Leafs.

If they can somehow get Hamilton from Carolina (even if it takes Kapanen) and ditch Zaitsev's contract in the process, it would make Gardiner very expendable to recoup an asset or two (or to get one or two for that deal). I doubt Dubas is done here.

Good deal for both teams, I'd say. Some good upside for the Kings and the Leafs get a defenseman who at least should be considered for a top pairing instead of Hainsey.

I'm going to be interested to see how Muzzin does. There are a number of people who have always said he rode Doughty's coat tails. Personally I think Doughty is one of the most overrated players in the game (still good but to listen to the Canadian media you'd often think he was Ray Bourque). So chemistry aside it'll be interesting to see how Muzzin does away from Doughty (and a shitty Kings team).

I like Esa Lindell, 6'3" 215 lbs 24 year old defenseman out of Finland, he's an upcoming RFA I believe, but on a really cheap contract (2.2 million per)
