This is why there's going to be another work stoppage (lockout). Players are fed up with the current system and will be looking for sweeping changes.

High time. What's the fucking point of having a cap system in place so teams from "small markets" like Calgary and Edmonton "can compete" only to see their owners still cry poor and spend years threatening to move the team anyway?

It makes me laugh when the bloated one who wears ties like scarves claims that there are markets ready to receive NHL teams. Bettman wants to get the league to 32 teams (and another $500 shmill in owners pockets) before he rides off into the sunset, he doesn't want to relocate existing teams (especially those teams in strong hockey markets).

Could be a pretty good deal in the last 3 years or so of the contract, obviously they think the kid is the real deal to lock him up for the next seven years.

/I don't watch enough Canes games to have too much commentary one way or the other. I know +/- isn't a great stat, but +23 as a defender is pretty darn good.

He's a really good player but this is a gamble. He hasn't played 200 games in the show yet. Could look great in 5 years or he could flame out. A gamble.
