Paxton: 27
Leake: 32
Felix: 19

I think this is generous. That would put it at 76. The 19 for Felix is more than he started in 2017 (16) but less than 2016 (25), but I think it's a good number because he has suffered more injuries + age.

Even if Paxton starts 33 games, Felix starts 25 (2016 total), we're still only at 88. That only crosses your threshold by a bit, and that would be an optimistic assumption.

Leake is Key, he looked really good last year. Durable? Not sure, still pretty young. 30+ starts.....Likely
Paxton.......injury history of fluke shit amazes me. Bruised Big Toe (turf toe) this year? Or injured ear? Weird?
Felix......just become Moyer or Maddux. Has great stuff and great movement, just throw 70-85, then 90 when needed.

My brother and I have talked about this for 2 decades or more. Why use your #1 vs their #1 if their #1 is vastly better than yours? Sacrifice a #4 or #5 in my book and shift your top 3 down one and have a chance and taking the series. I mean if you have Randy or Felix of old, then ya go for it.

That has kind of been my question since 02. Why is an ego trip more important. With so many injuries last year I can't remember who filled in for Felix but he won some games. I've just never quite understood since nerds took over the entire game the starting rotation is the only untouchable thing there is. They can think about a 6 man rotation but not have your ace not pitch against their ace? Their logic for Morrison leading off was he only does it once a game, so I don't get it. I mean if I were a manager I might not do it either but just food for thought.

85+ starts from these guys is necessary.

is 85 an over or under? I'm betting UNDER.

If that happens and Jerry gets over his hard on for Moore, Gonzales and Erasmo and signs a FA and puts Miranda in the rotation they IMO have good shot at the WC. Nothing they can do except a miracle can catch up the Astros but a great lineup and a decent staff can get them in the playoffs and a few games at home puts them on par with the Yankees, Astros and Indians in October. But getting there is the issue.

Reason I have high projections for Leake is because of how many starts he has had.

2017: 31 starts
2016: 30 starts
2015: 30 starts
2014: 33 starts
2013: 31 starts
2012: 30 starts

He has been as durable as they come.

Unfortunately on this staff, he is a starter and needs to be or we get Moore or Gonzalez.

I see it as I’d rather have Gonzalez in the rotation over Erasmo. Yes Marcos numbers were terrible last year but maybe another year removed from Tommy John and more experience will help him improve

As for Erasmo, the data on him is pretty clear. He’s been in the league 5+ years and has proven he can’t last as a starter. He actually has proven he can used in a multiple inning relief role and excel like he did in Tampa. No matter what Jerry thinks he knows the numbers are clear.

Love how Dipoto said just a little while ago that Lewis was 100%. I’m no Dr. but probably shouldn’t come out and say that when he hasn’t been able to stay on the field.

Well, if Felix starts the opener, and Kluber beats him 7-0, maybe Felix will see the light and realize that he needs to develop some new strategy..........................................or maybe not.

That's it? That averages to $3.75m per year. Not bad for a guy who has premium defensive value and is one of the most dangerous runners on the bases. Really wish we had retained him.

Ya, that is a steal. This thing just keeps getting worse.

Dipoto said the initial x-ray and tests on Healy's hand didn't reveal the lose piece of bone causing the discomfort, which is why they opted to rest the injury first. Closer scan and more tests revealed the issue.

Ryan Divish@RyanDivish

Dipoto is anticipating Ryon Healy to be ready by opening day or possibly a week later. They will stay with in-house replacements.
