I still got a feeling this bears franchise has a secret hard on for Watson. According to David Hales twitter account, Fox spent Watsons entire workout chatting to swinney about Watson. I'm seriously hoping this is the case right now.

Hard on in a good way or bad way? Usually hard on is this context is not wanting him, but if Fox is talking about him it sounds like Fox wants him.

I ask the board- Have they missed out on any player because they didn't offer enough?

The only one I heard about was they did not want to give Gilmore the fifth year and Bouye went to Jacksonville????????????? well, I guess the family gets to live somewhere nice. I guess either case we would probably not have been happy giving a CB 65+ million.

The rest we really do not know since it sure seemed like there were more swings and misses and you can really only consider some of the signings are Tier 2. We really do not know if they were not offered enough or did not want to sign here.

His big day 1 was Glennon, but that contract is really less than it seems.

Jeffrey could have come back for the 14 million if he allowed the bears to match, but no QB in a prove it year was a no brainer to leave.

Jeffery definitely wanted to comeback. He was pretty vocal about wanting to win in Chicago, right up until the day he signed with Philly. We weren't willing to match an offer like the one Philly gave him.

I was not sure about being given the opportunity to match. I remember some sports show saying it showed that he wanted out by signing with Philly the first day of free agency. It did make sense that he had a better chance to prove himself with the Philly quarterback than with Glennon, to get his guaranteed money multi year deal.

I mean, his representation was meeting with the Bears right up until the FA period officially began. Then in an interview with Schefter the night prior to signing with Philly. He talked about how he'd miss Chicago if he left, and how he wants to win a Super Bowl there. John Clayton also reported he could return.

Wentz isn't really more proven than Glennon either. After 3-4 good games, he was downright subpar. I think the Bears probably gave his representation the highest they'd be willing to go, and then Philly out bid them.

I think it was definitely a cash-based decision first.

Right, he did not allow the Bears to match an offer, he expected a multi year deal from the bears. If he truly wanted to stay, *after free agency started, he would have gotten Phillys offer and called the team to match. I * that because there is no way that guys have not made up their minds before free agency starts when they are signing on day 1 and for how much. There was a story like this with some Chicago team a while ago, saying a player called, did not pick up the phone, so they took the deal. Might have been a bulls thing.

As I stated... He had just met with the Bears personally the day prior to Free Agency starting. I believe the Bears told him as high as they'd be willing to go, and Philly out bid them. No need to ask for a match.

However, he did come out of that meeting and do an interview with Schefter where he said he wanted to stay.

Cunningham signed for a year. Not a bad move, can return kicks and can catch out of the backfield.

Re: Dion Sims

He can block and can catch. Good enough athleticism, but he's just missing speed. Probably an overpay at 6M, but a nice player I wish we could've retained.

He'll probably be blocking mostly, and be an insurance policy to Zach Miller in the passing game. Who is very talented, but often injured.

We need to draft a return specialist, IMO. It's actually a good class for the position.

It's time we stop dicking around with only having "competent" guys back there.

I don't know if we have enough "draft" picks to handle the more important holes on the team.

What exactly are the kickoff rules this year. I am still confused whether the NFL wants kicks to be returned or not. First they move the kick up so everyone boots it thru the end zone, then they give the receiving team 5 extra yards if they do not bring it out which basically penalizes the kicking team if they do boot it thru.

Personally, I think return is what keeps Jabril Peppers high on some draft boards which is part of why I don't have a problem drafting a safety 3rd. That is if we are not trading down or picking the first QB taken in the draft. Otherwise, you are taking a CB that cannot cover in the NFL, or a receiver that can catch but is not really good at running routes or blocking but can run fast.

Our return game is fine. Even better now.

Seriously the least of our team's problems.

Seriously tho...return game is good.

Wheaton, Thompson, Cunningham, Addison...I think we're covered there.
