If we are going to catch that fish we better show we have the means to get him some hardware. Barring injury, he will have his pick of top teams to go to.

This is why we didn't spend money clearing room for fitz

As much as I'd love not to play Fitz twice a year and as much as the Niners' offense DESPERATELY needs a true #1 WR my first impression would be not to pay the ridiculous money he's going to get because of the multitude of positions of need like DL & probably OL.

I'd throw stimulus package like money at Haloti Ngata if he isn't franchised though. :)

Like I mentioned on the same topic on a different thread, just because they can't franchise him next off season does not mean that they can't negotiate an extension with him during this season. Same goes with Ngata. Just because they are FA's next year does not stop their current team in re-negotiating during the season. It's to early to get excited about them

Wait, same with Ngata? They can't franchise Ngata next year?

Forget all those guys debating in Iowa. I'm starting my 2012 campaign right now!

Ngata in 2012!

If not Arizona, he'll want to be a Viking.

What I meant was the Ravens can negotiate with him during the season for an extension. Nothing to do with the franchise tag. If they can extend his contract during the season they won't need to franchise him

That's awesome news as long as he leaves the division. That being said, I don't see Arizona letting him walk. I bet they break the bank on him.

What happens if they go 4-12 or 5-11 you know he'll test the market

Oh. :(

Ok, it's still early. Sorry to hijack the topic, but I'm drooling at the thought of Ngata playing in front of Willis.

Don't get me wrong, I'd LOVE to get Fitz. He'll be 29; still a 3-4 dominant years left in the tank. But I'm more concerned with biulding up the D-line.

I doubt Fitz would trade one bad QB situation for another. That goes for both the 49ers and the Vikings. Saints as a top destination, followed by Colts and Patriots who would probably be going all in to try and get Manning or Brady another ring. Maybe the Chargers? Just someplace that has a top QB and an opportunity for him to be #1.

I'm guessing Fitz will go to whoever offers the most money.

I was thinking that about Ngata. Just glad that it's not going to cost 100 million dollars to get him. Unless the Redskins go all retarded again, and drive his price through the roof.

If this was his second contract I would wholeheartedly agree, but at his age, with this contract, hardware will trump software
