I love that we need this thread...
Game 1 starter? I think it has to be Bum
Game 2? Cain? Freak?
Has Freak earned his way back into the rotation, or has he shown that he is a real weapon out of the pen?
If JA is out, who gets added?
The million dollar question!
Will Melky get added to the roster?
Game 1: Bumgarner
Game 2: Lincecum
Game 3: Cain
Game 4: Vogey
Boch doesn't strike me as a guy that will go back on what he said, so no. I was just joking up there. Sadly, Hensley might take Affeldt's spot, so I am hoping it isn't as bad as it looked.
WAS wins on a Worth HR .... in 9th ..... 13 pitch AB .... impressive
Yeah, just saw that.
Must say, the Giants dished out some "torture" today.
At least Romo did.
I have never seen a more stressful 3-run (ultimately 2-run) lead in a game before.
In '10, we felt safe with a 1-run lead. Not this year.

Every single inning after the 5th they had the tying run at the plate.
SUPER torture.
Having the StL/WSH series go 5, and being 1-day behind us actually gives us a pretty decent advantage, pitching wise against either team.
Game 1, we are really only down Cain (granted, our ace), while both WSH and StL would be down 2 starter options. Whoever they go with tomorrow would need to go on short rest if they want to go in Game 2. We can go with anyone on reg (or more) rest.
I would guess that Washington is going with Gio tomorrow while StL will counter with Wainwright.
That would set up a Bum v Zimmermann or Garcia matchup for game 1 and Game 2 would be Cain v Carpenter or Jackson. This, of course assumes the teams keep the same rotations and do not pitch anyone on short rest.
Edit:
My math is bad. For Cain to pitch game 2, he would need to be on a 1-day short rest. In the LCS, I would be SHOCKED if they did not go with him.
Has to be this because game 2 is on Monday (right?) so Cain can't pitch on 3 days rest.
You could conceivably switch Vogey and Tim, might depend on if game 2 is at home or in Washington.
On radio Bochy told Tolbert Affeldt is fine, xrays negative, etc. Man he gets some weird injuries.
I think they keep Timmeh in the pen. You cannot put Zeets in the pen, so he has to start. Timmeh can pitch with next to zero prep, and can eat 3-4 innings.
Keep him as the backup starter for all games.
1) Bum (sunday)
2) Cain (monday)
3) Vogey (wednesday)
4) Zeets (thursday) MAYBE Cain, if we are down 0-3
5) Bum (friday - if needed)
6) Cain (sunday - if needed) MAYBE Vogey or Timmeh if we are down 2-3
7) Cain/Timmeh (monday - if needed) depends on how we got here
I see some logic there but unlikely. Postgame Bochy all but said Tim is getting a start. Does that mean Zito left off roster? Might be...
