.......9 54-hole leads in a row he has choked away now counting today. Biggest gagger in golf.

Love Furyk, but he's never been known to be a finisher. The backside has never treated him well lol

Jimmy shot 63 Saturday. Tough to follow that my man. You ever shot 63? :)

I've done it once and followed it up with 69 the next day. This was a nice course (not pebble) and par 71, 6500+.

74 isn't good, but I just can't call Furyk a gagger. :noidea: hes not tiger, not Rory or those kinda golfers that it's automatic after leading round 3. I remember taking about this last year. Sergio shot 62 or something last year at Firestone and followed it up with 72 I think, while Rory won the tourney.

Top 5 at pebble will get you at least $250,000 I bet. Not bad for a week.

No. Coupla a 65s was the best I could manage. But I never said Furyk wasn't talented, just that he was a choker. You might not call him a gagger, but nine straight choke jobs after 54 hole leads says otherwise; his embarrassing collapse at the Ryder Cup notwithsranding,

You are Assuming Furyk is good enough to keep the lead after 3 rounds like Rory does or like Tiger was. The great ones are good at winning with a lead after 3. Too many good golfers out there.

Jimmy didn't putt well today.

Jim is an exceptional golfer but just can't get over that hump.

I would love to have Jim Furyk's game but to me the worst thing you can be as a professional athlete is a choker and unfortunately Furyk is just that.

The guy's 44 years old. I'm 44, like to think I'm in pretty good shape, and after playing 2 rounds on the weekend I couldn't imagine being anywhere near 100% on the third. I couldn't imagine going 4 playing the courses these guys do. Yeah, it was a crap round but it isn't like we're talking about a 30 year old man in his prime here.

JF has choked a few tourneys away, and simply failed to close the deal on others. I don't think he choked this one away, just got steam rolled...SJ is right, but I don't think it matters if you can or have shot 63...a bogey golfer shooting 82 is going to have a tough time following that up with another low 80 the next day.

Following 63...74 was almost predictable.

Is he a flatout choker?...meaning he's losing these tournaments...or is it that he simply can't finish anymore?

All pros choke one or two away at some point in their careers, but I think JF is closer to the latter...just can't finish anymore...74 look bad on Sunday, but even par on Sun for a 54 leader is solid, especially following a 63...I think he still loses by 1 if my math is right.

How so? My swing's about 105 on a good day and I take it seriously. After a round of golf I'm pretty flippin sore. I don't think there's anything unusual about that.

Our bodies aren't all the same obviously...I'm 52...swing speed is about the same as yours...riding..I can still play 27 holes w/o feeling it too much all afterwards...LY we did 36 on July 4th, and I did feel it next day. I walk a hilly par 3 for 18 about once a week and I'm done after that....the saying father time waits for no man is true.

Age is probably a factor for Furyk, when you consider these 20 somethings are starting to bag more and more events now.

Doesn't matter what your swing speed is. You said you got tired after walking two rounds. That means you are seriously out of shape. I'm 57 and I can easily play 4 straight days and I always walk.

He's playing the 4th round and a 100 yard wedge shot that's more than 10 feet out is a mediocre shot. I cycle as well so it isn't like I'm crawling. It's a matter of doing what you need to do to perform at an acceptable level. I'm talking about being 100% golf-wise and making the shots you need to make.

I don't know. I'm sure JF's view on golf is a lot different than ours. He's training and competing against the best in the world on demanding courses and he's doing it (very well I might add) for a living. Choke or not, I'd say he's the best golfer over the age of 40 right now.

He plays on a Tour that demands the highest level of play. Consequently, he will be judged against the guys he plays with and if he comes up lacking he has to take his punishment from fans like me.

I am still furious at him for choking away the Ryder Cup in 2012 (admittedly not the only guy) but he had his match won and just absolutey choked.

I'll buy that. I like Jim though. He's a great course manager, he figures out how to contend with a shorter game going up against a lot of guys who go ridiculously long, and he's a class act. Even if he isn't winning he's still putting together top 10 finishes and playing really consistent golf for the entire season. His best 4 rounds aren't going to stack up well with a lot of guys for a given weekend, but for an entire season he grinds out better results. There's something to be said for that.

Agreed. There are a lot of things to admire about Furyk.
