Ok, So I am torn.

Oregon is playing the 3rd team and burning red shirts on defense. Not faulting on Leach for trying until the final second runs off.

But, when you are up 38 and the other team is going balls to the wall, should the other team continue playing hard as well?

I ask this honestly. Because with most of the blowouts Oregon is in, both teams generally play hard still, but run the clock down as they are doing so. Many teams Oregon routs still uses 1st stringers til the final gun, that is expected.

I guess it is Leach sticking to what his team does, throwing the ball every play.

Maybe mix in a run here and there in the 4th to melt down some clock when facing a defeat.

If Oregon were running up the score you would see 80+ nearly every game.

Mariota has still only played in the 4th qrtr once this year.

The part that was questionable was the 89 pass attempts.

The game is in the bag, you aren't going to come back from 38 down....Alliotti isn't upset that Cougs never gave up, he is upset at the fact that Wazzu kept airing it out with their starters in. the more reps and deeper this game goes the more chances for injuries and that is something you shouldn't want on either side. Just as if you are up 38 or down 38 you shouldn't have your starters in on the final drive of the game, there is no need. Run the ball, milk the clock and leave without injuries.

The Ducks keep the 2 team in on defense and arent playing freshman in the 4th it is WSU scoring 24.

WSU had 17 points scored on the Ducks primary first 20 defenders they play routinely. A defensive Coug TD gave them 24.

So Alliotti's primary defense only gave up 17 to WSU.

So therefore running the ball would put them at a huge disadvantage, giving the very potent Oregon offense the ball back extremely quickly.

Mike Leach did what he could to try to make the score respectable.
