It's obvious to me the Raiders always wanted Gruden and it would not shock me if they "bent" the rules to get him.

I am sure the Raiders are very scurred of a slap on the wrist vs handing out a sham interview when push comes to shove.

If it costs them a mid to low round pick and/or a fine wtf do they care? They got their guy.

I get the premise of the Rooney Rule, but I've always thought it to be offensive to minority candidates. A token interview not based on coaching ability? I don't know...

Part of the point of the Rooney rule is to help minorities get interviews ( even if sham interviews ) because it prepares them for when they get a real one. And occasionally one of those "sham" interviews leads to a guy knocking the socks off of a team and getting the job ( see Mike Tomlin )

Well, Marvin Lewis and Hue Jackson did not become available, for some unknown reason.

Wait until the Gooney Rule is expanded to women and Asians.

Why not require NFL teams to interview a transgender?

Good point, though Tomlin was a damn good assistant coming up through Tampa and as DC in Minnesota.

You are correct though.

Pretty soon NFL teams are going to have to interview at least 3 women and a tranny before they can hire the guy they want to hire.

NFL should investigate Goodell's sister's ass. jerkoffs. They had Art Shell as a HC many years ago, that's ok in my book and good enough

Every year or so there is at least one team who has their guy lined up and knows who they're going to hire and every year or so some fags want to bitch about the Rooney Rule.

If a team already has their guy they should just find a black player and bring one of their infant kids in for a "interview".
