Hopefully Maye/Milton and the WR's from the past couple years have a good season so some of the top FA's are willing to sign here in 2025 instead of hearing we have the most cap space and no one wants the money.
The idea of signing big name FA's seems like a quicker path to the top than signing the dregs that other teams are cutting.

Of course there are always outliers...Rodney Harrison comes to mind.
But the taxes, no one will play here b/c of the taxes?

IF, no other team makes an offer. \

Especially, with the additional 4% over $1,000,000.

Even the Celtics are worried. Tatum will have to cough up an extra $8M in taxes if he signs a Boston contract for the max next year. Miami and Dallas are drooling because he'll be able to keep an extra $18,000,000 if he plays in Florida or Texas. Fuck Massachusetts.

Seriously though, It's a culmination of issues.

Taxes and daycare of course being the biggest two which are easily more surmountable than a winning culture.
Taxes? Increase the offer to offset the difference.
Daycare for spoiled baby mamas? The Athletic Club down town has it...why can't Gillette?

The winning culture? Requires winning.

It's a loop whole for leagues that claim to foster means for competitive balance. Teams should cover taxes then the playing field is level. Sound unfair to teams? Everything in NY, Boston costs more and teams make more.

Kraft has options here. The New England Patriots can play in one of six states. Not how the Boston teams could make a move. Kraft should petition to move the team to NH

MA, CT, RI, ME are horrifically taxed.
VT is trying to catch up with them.

NH would be outstanding and most players would probably move to a state with zero income tax and zero sales tax. Property taxes are not out of line with any other state today. Other states have learned how tax on valuation and not market value.

Players cannot avoid taxes by moving to states with no income tax!

You can add California and Illinois to the list.

Can't put politics to the side. Highest taxing states are blue. Also most populated.
and most income

They pay taxes to the state they play in.
So if they play 8...or 9???...home games in an income tax free state, that can be a substantial difference.

Shit, one child's college education in one year.
