Oline was a factor, but Smith was a great RB. If he was on any team, he would be good. He was fortunate to be on the Yankees of NFL.

More I learn about Cowboys, the more I like Aikman. He was a great leader, especially under Switzer who couldn't handle Irvin. Wasn't the best QB but I think he kept that offense together.

Irvin would have been a Terrell Owen's anywhere else. Jimmy Johnson knew how to handle him.

But Smith wasn't just a product of a good Oline.

The same sort of argument could have been said for Harris in the 70's.
Great o-line, great offense around him made him overrated which isn't true for either.

With that said Smith would have been good anywhere and was the better RB of the two.

How do you mention Brown but not Payton?

I would say there are 3 who always get brought up as best RB ever and doesn't get discarded. Emmitt is thought of in the next round of people because he has the most yards.

Brown is brought up more than most, if not all, with having to deal with racial discrimination in the NFL. Barry is talked a lot because he had such a horrible line and he was so fun to watch.
