When we were 0-16 we had no choice. We had to go after an unproven coordinator, and he had to hire bottom barrel scraps in Cunningham and Linehan. 5 years later we have a lot of talent, including the best WR in the game and one of the best front fours in football. The job should be attractive to just about anyone. So here we go.

Who you got as the next HC of the Detroit Lions?

Let's look alive guys. This is gonna happen. Put those thinking caps on.

According to the NFL Network, the Lions need to make the playoffs in order for coach Jim Schwartz to keep his job.

Monday night's home loss to the Ravens could be the nail in Schwartz's coffin. In order to make the playoffs, the Lions will need to win out and have both the Packers and Bears lose at least one game. Schwartz's team has dropped four of their last five games and are 7-7 on the season, leaving his career mark at just 29-49. He's made the playoffs once since taking over in 2009.

Could John Gruden Bring Jay Gruden with him? Could Jay Gruden bring John Gruden with him? Lets just say with the Grudens, or Bill Cowher, there will be no mental mistakes. None

Scott Linehan -

2002-2004: OC of the Vikings, a team that was carried by one WR, and who's QB turned out to be a major bust without him.

2005: OC of Dolphins. Finished 9-7 and QB Gus Ferotte threw a blazing 18 TD's in Scott's high powered offense.

2006-2008: HC of the Rams. Took control of 8-8 team and quickly drove them into the ground with a 3-13 record. Finished with an overall record of 11-25. His QB's played like dog shit.

2009-current: Lions OC where Linehan and Scwartz are flirting with their 50th loss in 5 years. Some fans want to blame the QB.

Give Cowher triple the money he's looking for. Supply him with a mansion, a butler, and 300 F-150's. Just get him here.
My Wishlist right now:
1. Bill Cowher
2. John Gruden
3. Lovie Smith

sadly, i don't think the top 2 are available

Factoid: This Lions staff has never won back to back home games when scheduled called for two home games in a row. In 5 whole years.

I dont want lovie.....seen enough of him here in chicago...

If you just want a coach standing on the sideline looking lost the whole game....well that does sound like a lion coach......lovie is a DC, not a HC. we will be in the same boat were in now.

The problem I have with the big name coaches is that most of them want total control of personnel. I think Carroll might have that in Seattle, but other than that no one had been successful with that arrangement in a long time.

I think Rex Ryan is the best of your choices.

But no fucking predictions.

I like Ken Wisenhunt. He did a good job in Arizona and most guys do a better job the second time. I don't think Bill Cowher is as great as everyone else seems to but he's good and I would certainly get behind him if he were hired. I've heard the Steelers still aren't too happy with Mike Tomlin right now and if he were available (I doubt it) he might be my first choice. I know that a lot of people hate Brian Billick but I think he's a pretty good coach.

I don't really like the idea of promoting a coordinator/assistant unless this guy seems destined for greatness. I don't want a college guy. Like Swarm said, this should be a pretty desirable job with the talent we have. I don't think Lovie Smith is a particularly good coach. I wouldn't walk in front of a bus if he were hired but I can't say I would be happy. I don't think that I could really tolerate Rex Ryan either. Jon Gruden is a glorified Offensive Coordinator (and a lying, arrogant piece of fucking dog shit) and I don't really know what I would do if the Lions hired him.

Whoever it is, I don't think at this point that it can be Jim Schwartz.
