If we can't get Harbaugh, I'm hoping at this point for Miles -- and maybe we can get Muschamp or Pelini to be our defensive coordinator.

That is funny. Only people that want Miles at Michigan are LSU and Michigan fans

I really can not understand why nobody mentions Fuentes. I think he has a real future.

Probably because he doesn't have enough experinece? He really only has had one good season at Memphis, maybe they need a larger sample size.

that place was a dumpster fire before he got there. Unbelievable job to win 9 games in year 3. Plus he was Patterson's right hand man at TCU. Offense took a major dive after he left.

I'm not disagreeing just trying to think of reasons his name isn't brought up. Another reason I can think of is big name schools want to make a splash with a big name coach.

I'd love to see Ed Orgeron get a shot. He did well as interim at USC.

Beau Baldwin how isn't this guy in more discussions. I think he's done great at Central Washington and Eastern Washington. I'm surprised he isn't getting more serious attention.

Surprise, surprise, NFL people saying no way a coach leaves the NFL for college........

What we have here is a clear divide, the NFL people are saying that Harbaugh is staying while the Michigan people are saying there's interest. All of it is 100% speculation.

All we know for certain is that Harbaugh is clearly the top target, and he hasn't stated that he is not a candidate.

Cutcliffe wasn't offered the job...nobody was yet, as far as we know. Michigan hired a head-hunting company in order to compile a list of candidates. This company is contacting coaches across the country to see if they would like to be included on Michigan's consideration list.

This is one of the reasons rumors are circulating about the Patriots' Bill Belichick and the Saints' Sean Payton. Names are being compiled.

So when we see a story about somebody 'turning down the job', this simply means they do not want to be considerd for the job/be placed on the consideration list of viable candidates.....it doesn't mean they were actually extended a job offer.......big difference.

Didn't happen.

What we're tending to hear now is that some candidates, like Schiano, are having their people reach out withe general interest (which really isn't being reciprocated) and there are those like Jones who are reaching out in order to get a new contract. Michigan is listening to people and then that's being taken as an offer of some sort -- which simply just isn't true. We haven't offered any of these people. Does anyone truly believe if we were throwing out coaching offers that the job would still be open? I don't.

All the rumors were from that one guy. Multiple people on the Michigan end of things have said that report is just not true -- I tend to believe it. For one, no one is being offered the Michigan job until Harbaugh says no. So we know the report is BS.

Gauged interest or offer, he isn't going to Michigan. Here's another one.

Gauged the interest is entirely different than "turned down an offer". We don't know who first initiated the contact or in what capacity it came.

I'm highly doubtful that he was a serious candidate in any capacity.

Cutcliffe would simply be a disappointing hire. So I just don't believe any communication from Michigan, or the search firm, was very serious.
