Interesting about Vern Geishert. He, along with SS Frank Duffy, was later traded to the Giants for a fourth outfielder, who the Reds really didn't actually need at the time.

George somebody.

Geishert had almost zero big-league career.
Duffy was a pretty good shortstop.

hey guys. it's me, 68. i got kooky the other night and decided to go with the chico ruiz moniker in honor of the 1968 ballclub. it's the year i got permanently hooked on our beloved cincinnati reds. i remember watching clay carroll pitch that year and being impressed at his all-out effort. that guy put everything he had into each and every pitch. even at that young age he appealed to my blue collar / hard work sensibilities. although, it was probably my dad who initially pointed that out to me. maybe i should have gone with 'hawk?' regardless, here i am. ready, willing, and able to stir the baseball scrutiny pot.

i'm angel bravo on other boards, including 101. so, it works fine. i like it actually. i didn't know fidel played ball. i was talking to a dominican-american at a high school game the other day. his grandson was playing first base. anyway, great conversation about that time period and all the great ball players that played in cuba, puerto rico, dominican republic, etc. he remembered the team satchel paige pitched for down there that won a caribbean championship. we talked about his friend jose cano. robinson's dad, who pitched for the astros. i wasn't aware his dad pitched for a short time at the mlb level. we talked about the early mexican league as well. very knowledgeable about the mechanics of baseball. it was happenstance that i walked by and stopped. glad i did, because i couldn't have asked for a better fan of baseball to watch a game with.

Weren't Reds, but Orlando Cepeda, Mike Cuellar, Bert Campanaris, the Alou brothers, Rico Carty, Juan Marichal, and the great Roberto Clemente were all Reds killers. There have always been great Latino talent. Our own BRM Tony Perez and Pedro Borbon, Cesar Geronimo... Cesar Cedeno woulda coulda shoulda.

The story is Castro was being scouted by the Senators and, had he signed, he'd have been in baseball instead of law school. Do your own history after that.

Fidel is a baseball junkie. That's established. I know he went to a tryout for the Senators, or so much as said he did.

I saw him Rams34 or what ever he calls himself. On the recap of the Reds loss last night. I believe there is something seriously wrong with that guy to hate Reds fans as much as he does. And I hope he doesn't come on here.

The creep is even harder on the Angels fans, evidently pleased that the team didn't win even with his old buddy Pujols.

Put the Purple Aces (Evansville) on here, and you have my undivided respect.

pm HammerDown with a request for that logo and you'll most likely get it

we've done logo requests before(see North Dakota State, Yale, VCU and Georgia State)
