Here is some shocking news. Something that doesn't happen to ND. Starting Safety of the Florida Gators Cody Riggs is leaving the Program. He has started the last 3 years. He was a 4 star recruit.

ND wants him to play CB. ND is in his Final 2.

It is looking great for ND. This would be a nice pick up for ND.

Is this the "surprise" we kept hearing about on NSD?

It might of been. It is a CB. Irish recruited him back in 2009. He was ready to sign with ND until the last week where he picked Florida.

The one thing I don't get is he was a starter at safety for 3 years, why would ND put him in as a CB. Why not safety. We need help at safety anyways.

I don't know who Florida has or has had a CB but maybe he couldn't beat them out or they didn't want him to play there but wanted him on the field so they played him at safety. I know Florida has landed some good CB recruits in the last couple of years.

He played safety last year, but I think his first two years he was a CB. The article I read said Florida was probably going to move him back to CB this year because they lost two starting CBs due to graduation.

He wants to study business and we know Notre Dame's business school is one of the best in the country.

As far as I know it's THEE best.

Anyway, he'd be a great grab.

I am sure he would be a welcome addition to Notre Dame's defense. Hope it all pans out.

It's a great pick up or it would be a great pick up, one implies he's on his way to Notre Dame.

The Business school where I work is top notch as well, they do not have the athletics of Notre Dame.

At this point does it really matter what his espn recruiting ranking was? He has played 3 years. How has he played while at Florida?

He had 51 Total Tackles last year with 1.5 Sacks and 5 passes defended at Safety I believe. Not much for interception numbers. In 2012 he was injured most of the season. 2011 he had 31 Total Tackles with .5 Sack and 2 passes defended. It would seem like he's a solid tackler that just doesn't get many picks, he's also a little undersized at 5'9" 190 LBS.

With him its about experience. I mean he did start for a Top SEC school so Im guessing he has to be good.

A top school that went 4-8 last year. But I do think he'd be a good addition especially in our nickel and dime packages.

Well Florida's defense wasn't too bad they were terrible offensively.

I think we are missing the big picture. How shitty of defensive backs have we had? I think it is fair to say he is better than Farley and Collinsworth combined. lol

I'm hopping to see Shumate and Redfield as the starting safeties, Farley and Collinsworth as backups. Russel would be the other starting CB with Riggs, with Luke and Butler as the backups. I think it would be a pretty good defensive backfield.
