I have just taken my old xbox 360 AV cable and hooked it up to the new one...I switched it on HDTV and set my display settings for 1080p..This projects color, but something seems a bit different, like the players are stretched out or something..

The AV cable that came with the Xbox is just projects a black and white picture when I turn it on...

ok, i'm really curious now. are you talking about strict AV (red white yellow) or Component cables (RGB and whit red) ?? if it's AV, that would be your problem, but I didn't think Xbox ever shipped w/ AV

the new xbox 360 s comes with just your ordinary AV cable, a yellow, white and red input....HOWEVER, my OLD Xbox had a Component cable that had both your standard AV cable and also a blue, yellow and red? and then there was a switch to make it Standard or HDTV.

I am currently using my Old xbox's component cable as it projects a better picture and the basic AV cable that came with the 360 S projects just black and white and I can't seem to fix it.

with the basic AV cables, you have to have your HD settings set to the lowest level, and I wouldn't bother using them. they are basically trash.

I feel sorry for you... I know 40 bucks is a lot for a cable- but it's so fucking worth it...... The difference in picture will blow your mind.... And the difference in audio is pretty big too..

I mean..... If you are talking a 1$ HDMI yes it is much much better than a RGA.....

But I have a 55" plasma...... think 4,000.... I'm not going cheap on cables...

Thats like saying these are the same car.....

The Cables may make the same connection.... But the materials used in the cable are much different..... I I wish I had a good enough camera that I could show you the difference...
