No joke. In 1993ish, I thought Plantier was going to be a bigger loss than Bagwell was. Plantier looked THAT good. Mo Vaughn looked to be the 3rd best of that group.

I actually own an autographed Plantier personal model bat...wicked thin handle, huge barrel, weighs a fucking ton. Cost me less than a store bat...think it's an Adirondack, haven't looked at it in a couple of years. Wood has crappy looking wavy grain, which I'd guess is why he didn't use it.

Huh...I don't see anything about Bobby Bonilla in that statement

Thank you Wikipedia:

Plantier was named hitting coach of the San Diego Padres on October 31, 2011. He held that position until 2014, when he was replaced by Mark Kotsay.

Also, Plantier holds the MLB record for most career home runs by a player born in New Hampshire!

Phil's advice to every Pads batter...
"OK, pretend like you're taking a shit out in the woods..."

Fisk would have killed Plantier, but he was born across the river in VT. Grew up in New Hamstah.

Huh...I don't see anything about Bobby Bonilla in that statement

A lot of people thought Bonilla was going to be a better hitter than Bonds when they were youngsters with the Pirates...maybe if he had a better pharmacist???

In 1998 or 1999, Peter Gammons predicted that Chris Carpenter would win a Cy Young one day.

Don't be afraid to pick up Jessie Chavez if he's available in your league.

There is no rehab assignment plan in place yet for Yankees starting pitcher Ivan Nova, general manager Brian Cashman said Thursday, per The Journal News.

It has been anticipated Nova would begin a rehab assignment around early May, which would put him on track to return to the major-league rotation in early June. Nova is coming off Tommy John surgery last year.

A nice luxury a week ago that's turned into a pretty important guy to keep an eye on ( for me)

I'm going to see if he's available in my Yahoo league. He's doomed.

At the end, when the narrator is saying what became of each of the kids in the future, they get to the black kid and he says, "He was abducted by aliens and no one ever saw him again."

WTF? You couldn't make him president or anything? Ya had carte blanche to write this kid a future, and that's the best you could come up with?

"Abducted by aliens" is code for life without parole.
