Opening night of baseball season tomorrow. White Sox new manager Grifol has his work cut out for him against the Astros who have clobbered the Sox in the past and this past off season signed everyone's favorite White Sox - Jose Abreau. National TV for the Sox on opening night with the ESPN broadcast.

We actually don't know the Sox roster officially here on the day before.

The Sox fan base has low expectations - LOL - to say the least.

Well - here's hoping for a 90 win season and good health for the good guys.

New year. Same fucking shit with runner on 3rd and less than 2 outs. How did I know we would fuck that up? TA runners on corners with 0 outs. Weak grounder to third and Andrus can't even stay in the damn run down for the runner to advance.

So frustrating. Probably best chance we get all night. Might post a goose egg.

Yep, but I wanna give the new coach a chance to correct, if he does and shit stops, we'll be alright.

Clutch hitting is also supposed to be in Grifol's wheelhouse with his stats analysis background.

It’s amazing that teams haven’t figured out bummer yet. Go up to the plate and don’t swing. He doesn’t throw strikes.

Boys…We had Jose Abreu up in the ninth vs Reynaldo Lopez and won.

I’m convinced. We’re winning the whole goddamn thing.

I see some guys experienced this game as I did - after 9 opportunities with runners in scoring position failing - and falling behind in a game where the Sox hit better and pitched better than the Astros - last year's team would have surely lost this game and be down the rest of the series. Yet - we saw the better outcome. Let's let that set the tone on the season. Go Sox!

Have to admit, I was kinda thinking the same thing for the most part. We got away with this one and against the champs no less. But more often than not, we'll come out on the losing end when we blow multiple opportunities to score in games. This is especially true when factoring in that this is not a powerhouse offense by any means. We'll probably have to scratch and claw our way thru many contests.

I was happy to see that Grandal had cleaned up his passed balls last night. He dug quite a few balls out of the dirt or blocked them off his chest protector keeping the ball in front of him. The one pitch that got away from Grandal was listed as a wild pitch, but allowed a go ahead run to score. Grandal got that run back with his homer in the next at bat.

Cease looked marvelous in his outing last night.

Jose Abreu is an over appreciated middling to above average MLB first baseman. Who once spent a grand total of 60 days being "really good" and won an "MVP"... if you want to call it that.

Nice error.

As frustrating (and similar to 2022) as much of that game was offensively. It was great to see some timely hitting from Vaughn/Grandal and Bummer/Reylo do a solid job. Cannot complain about beating the defending champs on an opening day banner night. I definitely thought we were dead and buried after squandering all of those opportunities prior to Grandal shooting a blast out of nowhere to tie it.

Not sure how much I like us to take another night, but maybe Lynn gives us a chance? Yordan Alvarez is a monster, though, that much is certain. Him against any right hander could be big trouble.
