Heard I missed the QuitFest today. (looks up box score) uy...

I know it's one thing to have the wind sucked out of your sails after falling behind (this team is known for that so well), but when every other pitcher follows suit and folds like Felix did...

Season over. Who are we kidding, this season was over by mid-June, and this is a bitter reminder.

I only hope that someone hammered it into the pitching staff just what level of professional baseball they're supposed to be playing!

GET SWEPT!!

I don't think this team can do that. Even if they wanted to, Jack Z has written contracts to players that make it difficult to move them.

1) Cano's contract is unfriendly to this type of maneuvering. We're stuck with him until he's 40, and no amount of success now would convince any team to trade for that contract.

2) Kyle Seagar's deal gets pretty spendy here in just a couple years. Starting in 2018 (the year he turns 30), his salary will be at least 18 million until 2022 (team option @ 15 million). It's 8 million and 11 million the next two years respectively. His $4.5 million salary may not call for more production, but when it hits 18 million, fans may want to see more than .260 & 25 HRs.

3) Nelson Cruz's contract is due 14 million through 2018, and despite his success this season, I'm not sure anyone expects him to be worth that 14 million when he's 38.

4) Felix has a full no trade clause in his contract, as well as 10-5 rights. Even if Seattle wanted to trade him, Felix would have to want to be traded. Despite Seattle's ineptitude, and his fiery competitiveness (a combo you wouldn't think mixes well), Felix seems to like it here and doesn't want to leave.

We have over $84 million set for 2018, and only 4 players, all of which will be 30 or older. With no real way to see how any one of these 4 contracts is moved, the team will be in the same position it is right now (or even worse).

I agree totally, but the original premise by cezero was that if Felix asked for a trade. The only one I would debate is Cruz. There are plenty of teams that would take on his contract for the next 3 years. $14M in today's market isn't all that much for the upper payroll teams.

Looking at the boxscore that is the assumption I came too but was just curious if he actually did just mail it in.

Felix was leaving his pitches in the middle of the plate, belt high... He wasn't hitting his spots...

First time in his career that the team lost when scoring 10 runs with Felix pitching.

Part of me just wishes the Mariners would lose and get this game over with before they tire any more of the bullpen.

He hasn't been that bad, I wish he would be more patient at the plate though.

His approach leaves a lot to be desired.

Like AZ said, a lot of empty ABs in big spots. His numbers with guys on base are putrid. You need more out of one of your cornerstones who is making the coin he is.

And yea it seems like he watches a lot of meat and swings at garbage.

Wow, I've noticed watching the games that Seager has struggled with men on, but I only catch probably about 50% or so of the innings that the Mariners play so I assumed that perhaps he was better when I wasn't watching. His stats with RISP and men on are putrid, you are quite right. Hell, putrid is an understatement:

2015 RISP: .170/.277/.310
2015 Men on: .222/.303/.380

Last year he was quite good with RISP and men on,

2014 RISP: .301/.356/.479
2014 Men on: .303/.354/.525

He actually hit a lot better with RISP and men on than he did with nobody on. I have to assume he improves next year.

Kudos to Zunino for 2 hits, including the GWRBI.
