Great to see the complete game from the king. Cruz absolutely crushed that ball. Nice start to the series.

All we need is 2 more Felix's and the championship is ours!!!!!

I still put Randy a hair above him, but he is still Mr. Mariner of pitching.

It never fails, Felix was pitching a no no and Dave Sims just had to say something in his Dave Sims way about it and 2 seconds later theres a base hit.
The guy's such an obnoxious moron. Thankfully Felix was able to make it through his perfect game a few years ago, I remember cringing when sims mentioned it ate every possible opportunity.

Congrats to Felix on his first shut out (first complete game at that) since August 27th 2012.

I know it is true, but it just doesn't seem right. It seems like he gets a coupe a year. I guess that is just how good he is. He just leaves you with the impression that he shuts people out at a higher rate. #LongPitchTheKing

Not too often you see a CG by both starting pitchers in a game...

Not these days for sure. I remember reading how in the 50's guys would go 16 innings each against each other. Amazing. Back at the start of the 20th century, two guys pitched 26 innings against each other. It was probably more like playing catch back then I guess..lol.

Part of that is that he gets pulled with "lower" pitch counts. 12 times the last 2 years he had starts without giving up a run. 6 of them he had less than 100 pitches, and none of them went as high as 110. As recently as the 80s (and probably even more recent than that), if your ace is on the mound with a shut out after 8 innings and had thrown less than 100 pitches, you wouldn't even think about pulling him, but that's not how managers do it today. It just seems odd that he gets 5 shut outs in 2012 and then no complete games for the next 2+ years.

If it means he is able to play on short day turn around in the playoffs I'm all for it. We don't know what adding several rounds of playoff games would do to him and it would be nice if this was the year we find out. But the playoffs often put your ace in situations where they are asked to go deep and play in short days of turnaround.

There are times I think they should have let him finish games. We all remember a game or two last year that were blown by the pen where he was dialed up and playing well, but protecting him from injury given his weak ankles is something McClendon minces no words about.

It looks like he keeps re-aggravating it. Twice last night he made plays where he put his leg in a position where it took a jarring action. Hard to heal when that keeps happening and none of us want him to take a day off that is for sure.

Not a great start for the Mariners. Paxton wasn't throwing many strikes, but those errors by Seager and Jackson sure don't help his case.
