Maybe I'm exaggerating but to me this is the biggest start in Hernandez' career so far. Kind of funny how a lot of people were worried about the loss in velocity of his fastball. Goes to show you that you don't need the 95+ MPH fastball if you know how to pitch. He's probably at about 92-93 MPH average on it but his K/9 is the best of his career.

Your not its the truth. In fact as long as we stay in it, every start he has left will be the biggest start in his career.

Good to see Felix get out of that inning. The middle of that Tigers lineup is just lethal.

With the Mariners in serious playoff contention, there is a serious case to be made that this is the biggest start of his career. Especially considering how important this series is in regards to our place in the wildcard.

As Felix lost velocity on his fastball, he actually learned how to pitch and use his other pitches effectively. It's been fun watching him evolve as a pitcher throughout his career.

Man if Hultzen pitched like he should have, and Walker was pitching like he should, we could have the best rotation for years.

I think there still is a strong possibility of us having a terrific rotation for years.

-Felix is under contract for a long time.
-Paxton is looking like he could be a real solid middle of the rotation guy.
-Elias looks like he could be a solid #4.
-Walker still has the stuff to be a dominant pitcher.
-Iwakuma is one of baseball's most underrated players IMO. In his 69 career starts, Iwakuma has a 2.68 ERA which is incredible. I'm not sure there are many guys who have had a lower ERA over the past three seasons.

Go get JJ Hardy next year. Can't watch another year of little league shortstop play.

I wanted Hardy when he was about to leave Milwaukee badly. I thought he would have been a great fit here at the time.

Now, I think I'd rather stick with one of the younger guys than pay the price to pry Hardy away. I think he flew under the radar more in 2009 than he would now.

I'd rather stick with Taylor at short and save that money for RF, 1B or DH.

It is not about the offensive need of Hardy, but clearly the defensive need. How many booted balls or bad throws late in games can a team on the edge of winning take? It taxes the pitching and puts even more pressure on the offense to score.

I think the need for offensive help in the OF or DH is a legit need, but never underestimate the value of a top defensive SS who can also hold his own at the plate.

Is it time to move on from Mauer? He feels like our most inconsistent and useless pitcher.

LOL! WTF is with the Tigers? They look like a team that's ready to roll over and die at this point.

He doesn't have the zip on his fastball like earlier even though radar shows 96-97. He is also throwing a lot more off speed stuff for some reason.

Biggest issue for me on him is that he is a 1 inning specialist but being used for multiple innings. That is why he didn't work as a starter.

This umpire has to be one of the worst umpires I have ever seen call a game. (last night) Makes it worse tonight by tossing McClendon for making a comment on a check swing.

TBS announcer (Ron Darling I think) said he thinks Randazzo gave up the 5 homers to Lloyd in LLWS but not confirmed yet. LOL.

This team is ridiculously hot right now. 5-1 against the two closest in the WC race. Time to start believing!
