Well there's your first problem.

There's no possible way to reasonably balance the conferences. Obviously they'd have to have 30 in the West and 34 in the East.

You mean 30 in the Windshield Conference and 34 in the Bug Conference?

Ticket prices have been released and Bill Foley hopes to have 10,000 season ticket commitments.

http://www.lasvegas-hockey.com/Documents/Arena Diagram and Pricing.pdf

Obviously that doesn't tell us a ton, but that seems a little high to me. At the absolute bottom end of $20/game x 41 home games (no preseason or playoffs), you're at $820. For comparison, there's this:
I went through each NHL team & found out how much their cheapest 2014-15 season ticket is : hockey

That would put them at higher than 10 current NHL teams. Seems pricey for an expansion team in a non-traditional market.

Get ready Omaha, the Buffets are ready to hit the ice.

Omaha is probably one of the few US cities out there with an arena that could handle NHL with few updates. They'd probably need to add a few suites, but the arena is bigger and newer than some NHL facilities.

The Flames AHL team was based in Omaha for a few seasons - The Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights.

/In case you're wondering, Ak-Sar-Ben is Nebraska spelled backwards.

Don't know enough about the history of the team, so I don't know why, but they didn't play in the newer facility. Not sure why because I know University of Nebraska men's hockey plays there, so the ice is there. And it's much newer. As in almost 50 years newer.

The only hiccup to this plan is the arena is fully booked the first weekend in May. So the team would have to schedule playoff games around this.

(insert Leaf joke here)

With how much influence guys like Jacobs have on Bettman, imagine how much Buffet could have if he wanted to own the team and really exert his power.

its interesting that Foley is using a group of 50 vegas "celebrities" as unpaid (dare i say ... comp'd) salespeople for this ticket drive ... using social media and other networks to push the Vegas nhl team idea

Daniel Negreanu likes the franchise name ... Las Vegas rat pack

jeez ... i wonder who their first free agent signing is ?

Actually, the Las Vegas Buffets isn't a bad name for a team.

Wherever the Buffets end up, traditional penalty times do not apply, you have to eat a salad, king crab cluster, two slices of prime rib, and one of 27 vegetables to serve your penalty.

I'm kidding of course. There would obviusly be no salad, that's for buffet amateurs.

If they are named the Buffets, I bet they will lead the league in elbowing penalties.

That would be perfect. Then they could try to get Golden Corral to buy the naming rights to the arena.

That would awful, they'd do something terrible with The Cup...

Its kind of crazy but just might work.

2 32 team conferences
4 8 team divisions in each conference
No inter-conference play
Each team plays their own division 5 times (35 games)
Each team plays the other teams in conference twice (48 games)
One conference employs the shoot out as it is now, the other uses a designated shooter - one player who takes all three or more shots

We're never getting rid of TJ Oshie, are we?
