I have an idea...

How about an auction draft?

The draft may take a while to finish but it could be a good one.

I post a player and you all submit a bid, highest bid wins and we have a cap.

I'm a little tipsy right now so some details would need to be worked out but there ya go...

Oh, if there is a tie on highest bid I notify those who bid the highest and they resubmit a higher bid.

I say we scrap the switching teams idea and save it for another draft. We do the first 4 (or 6 or whatever) rounds secretly, like we did the last NBA draft. Maybe do like 8 or 10 rounds in that case, since there is a chance we can end up with only 1 or 2 players. Anyway, after however many rounds we decide to it be, we stop the draft and pick a random order. Whoever gets #1 has the option of keeping their team or trading it in. If they trade it in, they name an owner and they switch teams. Then, #2 has the option, then #3 and so on. Then, we start the draft again with the set order (which would be known before we start secret picking) by filling in with players taken. When we get to a blank (a team with fewer players), they will get to pick from the remaining players. We do this until all the teams have the same amount of players, then proceed as normal.

Does this make sense?

What about this for the next NFL draft? I was thinking that the person taking the picks via text could still participate, but they would have to be last when we stop and have the option to trade in teams and get whatever team is left over. There isn't really a disadvantage to this since nobody else knows anyone else's team outside of their own and the team they traded with, if they even traded.

I mean that is a lot of texting and work honestly for you. Especially if we have rounds for each bid to narrow it down. I have thought about this idea too bc of the fantasy football auction drafts but it just seems a lot of work, I like the idea of it though

How about a 1975 draft, no player drafted after 1975 is eligible, everyone who ever played in the NFL prior is eligible.

Kicker: You will have one decade with only 4 players. You will choose this decade and it will be only $20. You cannot change this decade after you set it.

Yeah I was thinking about just a wrinkle but that makes sense. Idk you guys seem to like where the teams aren’t as stacked so I thought why not go low. I am fine with $35...
