CF - Paganco (whomever is hot, I mean warm, I mean first one in uniform)
2B - Theriot / Scutaro (spot relief)
LF - Melky
C - Posey
RF - Pence
3B - Panda
SS - Scutaro (mostly)
1B - Belt (or someone/anyone that can hit above .260)
P

When Scutaro is at 2B or not starting the game, then
1B - Belt (see above)
SS - Crawford (see Belt and minus .010)
P

Batting Pence in the 5th spot (protecting Posey) may tell Pence how vital he is to the Giants (could help with future negotiations).

Or not.

If Pence hits, then they'll discuss an extension. Brown panning out will probably play a huge role in whether they can lock those tow in the corners for 5/6 years each.

Belt may be vital to that, but not so much imo. Not when you can go out and buy a 20/100 guy like LaRoach for 2/12

So Bochy says Pence will bat fifth, and we'll get a Pagan/Blanco platoon in CF.

I'm guessing it will be a who's hot type platoon rather than a pure matchup platoon, no? (though Pagan will likely go against most lefties)

Yeah, I get that feeling too. If Blanco would just remember to take a walk and butcher boy it a few times a week the job is his for the taking.

Paying close attention to the signs would help, too.:brick:

Any interest in Lyle Overbay at 1B?

DFA'd by the Dbacks, 35 years old, .292/.367/.448 (OPS+ 113) in 96AB this year? Power looks to be gone.

So when Pablo and C3PO come back, our bench will be: Scutaro, Pill, C3PO, Pagan/Blanco, Arias. I guess a lefty big bat would be nice, but really thats a solid, versatile 5. No need for Overbay.

If Blanco gets that OBP above .350 consistently again, Pagan has to become the full-time 4th OF. This is Blanco's chance with Pagan out a couple games to show he should be the guy.

Phillies DFA Fontenot. Send Arias down and add Fontenot? I wouldn't - that ship has sailed.

Hard to say...

Fonte and Riot are good friends, but would it be weird with Riot essentially taking Font's job this year? How is Arias' rep in the locker room?

In a video-game, I would consider it.

In the real world, I think we stand pat.

Whats the point? The Giants were the ones who cut him, Arias is a better defender and the bats are no real different (Fonty has had really good luck this year, Arias has had pretty bad luck).

Imagine the bump in pesky factor with Fonty, Scoots, and Riot

Perhaps a big misplay on Demptser by the Dodgers.

But then, in the final half-hour, Dempster came to understand that the Chicago Cubs couldn’t pull off a trade with his preferred team, the Los Angeles Dodgers. Earlier in the day, he had told the Cubs he would waive his no-trade rights for the Rangers or New York Yankees but to keep trying for the Dodgers.

Sitting in the Cubs offices — yes, he actually was there, watching club executives try to move him — Dempster saw how the Dodgers sought to exploit their leverage, refused to budge on talent, sought to make the Cubs blink.

In the final half-hour or so before the deadline, he finally allowed the Cubs to open up the process. The Cubs quickly engaged the Rangers and Yankees. And that is the abbreviated version of how Dempster went to the Rangers for Class A third baseman Christian Villanueva and Class A right-hander Kyle Hendricks.

There is plenty more to tell.
