Which is lame, but apparently needs to happen to keep this board alive... I have a ton of good Lions picks that I can post up on the FB page if you want to use one?

Also Gandy, apparently you need to change your avatar before this site loses it's advertisement funding...

Really?? is that on main board somewhere? I will change if needed to keep this site going. Why did they approve it if it a problem. Hell only been 4 weeks...

It's on the very top of the main "lions" page with all of the threads. Titled "please read immediately".

It's not your specific avatar, but apparently any scantily clad women. The admins running the site have no problem with it, but the google-based ad placement agency they use cannot (apparently) be associated with "distasteful pictures" or some such bullshit.

You'll have to read it quick, but basically it's gotta be changed, at least for now...

Nvm that. Just read that thread they created about it. Sounds like if SportsHoopla loses Google they lose a lot of revenue which could lead to a possible shut down. Disregard my rebellion.

So tpaul you really think mike thomas is going to have 35 rec and 250 yards rushing? If he puts up those types of numbers, somebody has to get hurt, or the lions will have the greatest offensive numbers as a team in the history of football.....with bush, leshoure and bell i just dont see thomas getting many looks....with megatron, burelson, and broyles all healthy he still might get targeted but i dont think he will play much of a role. Sorry ive said it before, im not obsessed with speed guys.....in college and high school, speed is the shit, but once you hit the NFL everyone is fast, and everyone is well disciplined. My opinion. Otherwise the fastest guys would always be the best.

plus 40-45 carries for about 250 yards and a TD.

You see Mike Thomas getting 3-4 carries a game? That is alot of carries in the Lions offense, when they only run the ball roughly 20-25 times a game.

I think they will use him on end arounds or may occassionally put him in the backfield, but 3-4 carries a game, I have a hard time seeing that happen when they have Reggie Bush and Mikel LeShoure.

I also think he factors heavily into the competition for the KR/PR spot(s)

What makes you think that? His career stats as a returner are dreadful. His punt return average is barely over 8 yards and were it not for a TD return in 2010 his average would be even worse. His kick return numbers are almost as bad. His career averages at both punts and KO's would have been near the very bottom of the league last year for anyone with 10 or more returns. I cant see him factoring into anything where he makes an impact with the team next year, either as a WR, RB, or returner. It was a bad trade IMO

I think Mike Thomas is more than just a speed guy, he has proven he can play...66 catches and 820 yards in 2010. Jacksonville tried to make him a #1...he's not a #1. I want to see Mike Thomas with a full camp.

Would you rather have Patrick Peterson or Devin Hester?

2012 Stats
Patrick Peterson 51 pr's 426 yards 0td's for an average of..........8.4
Devin Hester 40 331 0 " " " "..........8.3

In our offense? Those are 100% complimentary numbers all the way. 500-600 total yards and 4-5 TDs isn't a huge amount of production. Joique Bell put up 900 total yards and 3 TDs last year in a complimentary role. Maybe I'm sitting a bit high on Thomas' receiving TD total, maybe 2 or 3 instead of 3 or 4, but I think he'll get close to those numbers.

I think most of his rushing yards and a lot of his carries come on the end around that's a staple of our offense. Mix in a few carries out of the backfield and I don't see it being a stretch at all to see him reach those numbers.

And 35 receptions in our offense is nothing. We threw the ball 727 times last year and Thomas averages 35.2 receptions per year (and that's factoring in his 18 catch campaign last year), so I can definitely see that happening.

It's not like I said he's going to be a 1,000 yard, 7 TD receiver for us, just a solid bit-part in our offense who can take advantage of all of the attention that all the guys you mentioned will be getting...

I think you need to re-check your math.

40-45 carries over a 16 game season is about 2.5 carries per game. Even that might be just a shade high for him, but I think he's somewhere right in there.

I think he does get the bulk of them via the end-around like you said, and then mix in a handful of carries out of the backfield and I think he'll average somewhere in the 2 carries per game range overall...
