Per James Walker
To clarify #Dolphins' power structure, Mike Tannenbaum is new boss in FB ops/personnel over Dennis Hickey. Joe Philbin runs coaching staff.

Both VP of Football Ops Mike Tannenbaum and coach Joe Philbin will report directly to #Dolphins owner Stephen Ross.

I think it could be a good move for the Fins. Tannenbaum has a lot of experience in football operations.

Hoping he can convince Rex to take a DC job and bring him to us as we know Coyle has lost it

Tannenbaum has a few good draft choices and a lot of bad draft choices. He really stripped the Jets of talent at the end of his run. The more I think about it, the more it leads to Ross. He is incapable of building the Fins into a relevant team that can compete year in and year out in the NFL. Get ready for another 7-9, 8-8 or 9-7 season in 2015

I think Tannebaum deserves a chance to show how he can help the team improve. I give Ross credit for realizing that he needs more assistance with football operations.

If they try and bring in Rex Ryan as a DC, do you think they do so with intentions that if Philbin has another bad year and is gone, that Ryan would be in line for the Head Coaching job?

Rex would be a great DC but I'd be scared to have him as HC....don't do it!

Just as long as it doesn't add confusion I'm ok with this move. The guy knows the division...

I agree, i dont want him as a HC. But Rex wants to be a HC, so maybe they lure him in that way with the promise he would be next in line.

With the draft and UDFA and FA/trades yet to come, it is too early to predict any records for anyone at this point when the current season hasnt officially ended yet. It is also ignorant.

As for Ross, he is just the owner - He is in charge of putting together a front office for him to direct, and to put a front office together to direct the coaching staff - Mr.Ross has nothing to do with what our record will be or could be beyond that. He wont be on the field throwing/catching passes, running the ball, playing defense etc.

Its a little foolish to blame the guy.

You are also suggesting the Fins arent a relevant and competitive team - they were surely relevant and competitive almost until the end of the season - so in that regard, he has done his job - the players just didnt make enough plays when it counted most.

Far too early to predict records. Have some perspective.

Most-likely scenario for sure.

Maybe bring in rex as DC and give him the title of assistant HC - that title is currently held by our special teams coach. No disprespect to special team coaches, players and the importance of that unit in the game of football - But, I think there are more deserving guys on the staff for that title and probably better qualified.

Our guy was just given the title of assistant HC because of tenure.

Rex won't ake a DC job. If he doesn't get a HC job he'll go into TV. He's already met with ESPN and there's a rumor he's met with CBS. He's told several people he won't coach someone else's D.

I'd rather not bring in another circus distraction. Leave Rex be he would instantly create a power struggle here. I'd also rather have a guy like Lazor eventually take control than Rex he's simply not head coach material...
