Total anti Pelini move. Can't get any farther away from that type of coach.

I have always had major respect for Riley as a coach and human being. Can't think of a guy I'd be more at ease right away entrusting with my kid.

Only thing that made me scratch my head is his age. At 61 is he going to be around long enough to really have a chance to rebuild?

RA...I'm not convinced you're on board. I'm going to need you to work on that. Thanks.

I'm beginning to believe Red Alert is thrilled about the hiring of Mike Riley (sarcasm inserted)......

If you think this is bad, just remember, Tennessee hired a 5-7 coach from Louisiana Tech.

Those Nebraska fans saying he doesn't know talent because he hasn't put many kids in the NFL haven't taken any time to look at what they are talking about.

Oregon State is probably 11th in desirability right ahead of WSU in terms of the area they are in compared to other Pac schools. And yet he has done a better job there than any of the head coaches at the other smaller P5 schools that I'm aware of.

NFL College Alumni Tracker - CBSSports.com College Football

He has churned out some RB's in his tenure. Rodgers and Steven Jackson among them.

Riley will have pipelines into California and now will have the type of school to make saying no to him impossible. Have patience. He's a great guy and great coach.

The bold is spot on. It's a whole lot easier to say no to Oregon St. than it is Nebraska.

I am happy that MR get's his chance with talent now...upgrade in pay as well.

Braska done good...their fans will learn soon enough.

Yeah MR could coach easily for another ten years...healthy 61 yr old for sure.

no joke

that was the most shocking thing to me in this whole thing

Here's a certainly. Bo wouldn't win 9 games a year in Corvallis. Not even eight...

Neither did Riley, but Mike knows how to develop talent. One of Husker nations biggest gripes with pelini.

Now you have one of the best in the biz in that regard. Be happy! I've already seen some saying they won't even go to a game next year because of this hire. I thought Husker fans were a little more football savvy.

He's just a better head coach than Pelini ever will be.

I'm in a wait and see mode. I want to see who he gets as coordinators and who he retains from the current staff.

this could be a good hire or could be a bad one. I mean the pieces are in place at Nebraska to have a breakthrough season, we just need a coach that is ready to lead us there. It was clear Bo wasn't going up from 9-4 and refused to get rid of the pieces that was holding him back. As others have said, I also believe Riley did a magnificent job coaching up players at OSU and hopefully can do that here.

Can't wait to watch the CornDaddies start to win more games...If only to see the happiness on Mike's face with all that winning he is going to get at Braska from now on.

Big O-lines...good RBs, WRs and a QB he can show the light-n-way to.

Call it what you like, but every head coach has their own schemes and methods they are used to working with. Not all prior kids fit in with that. Some of those kids that were failing under Bo are going to not be there anymore. Rebuild doesn't have to mean destroy and start over, but it's still rebuilding.

Riley's going to want his kind of QB there. Is there one already there? If there is great, if not it's 3 years from now before you can see the fruits of his labor in getting one and building them up. Same at other key positions.
