Yeah, but KSU had 3 total wins in the 4 years prior to Snyder's first year.

From 1972-1997 (25 years), Oregon State never had more than 4 wins in a season......and only had 4 wins 4 times during that span.

Insert Mike Riley, everything changes.

You're right!

I should have never posted that fact about Oregon State not having a season over 4 wins for 25 straight years prior to Riley showing up.

My bad....

Eh, Oregon State's success didn't start until they hired Dennis Erickson in 1999. Sure, Riley was able to have some success after Erickson left, but since 2009 his teams' were mostly bad. Nebraska did the Beavs a huge favor by hiring Riley.

When Erickson came in he had Riley's recruits.

Some, but he also brought in a lot of JUCO guys and transfers like Chad Johnson. The best Riley did with those recruita was win 5 games. I'm sorry y'all got stuck with Riley, I was hoping he would stay in Corvallis forever.

What is the excuse for Riley's stretch of 10, 9, and 9 win seasons with wins over #1 USC, #2 USC, and #2 Cal?

Erickson got the ball rolling and Riley was able to maintain it for some time on his own.

Riley was always good for those upsets of top teams in Corvallis, which is why I expect MSU to lose in Lincoln.

Hey, if Nebraska can get to 10 win seasons with Riley good for them.

I just don't buy it.

Riley got it going for Erickson. That's the way I see it.

But I don't really care either. Riley is going to be fine here.

Saban took over a 6-7 team.

Riley took over a 9-4 team.

Saban had won elsewhere.

Riley is a perennial loser.
