Matt Campbell (Iowa State) - Iowa State is looking really tough on offense and has one of the biggest upsets of the season in the country's most lopsided series between two teams. If they play like they have their last two games, they could be in the running for Big 12.
Scott Frost (UCF) - Two seasons ago, UCF went 0-12. This season, they are 5-0 with a dominating win at Maryland (with one of their first two QBs). He also had to deal with a hurricane and schedule changes.
James Franklin (Penn State) - Last year, they started 1-2 and nobody was giving him any COTY awards in Week 7, but was talked about at the end of the season. This season, they are dominating and have the #1 defense in the category of PA.
Mike Leach (Washington State) - Not one voter in AP or Coaches put Wazzou on their preseason ballot. Now it is looking they have potential to finish Top 10. They defeated USC.
Rocky Long (San Diego State) - They may have lost in Week 7, but they have looked good all season, even winning at Arizona State and home vs Stanford.
Gary Patterson (TCU) - TCU were #26 in AP's preseason poll. There were 5 teams ranked above them. They have have beaten 3 of them so far with a combined score of 101-61.
Lincoln Riley (Oklahoma) - In Riley's first year, he took the Sooners into the Horseshoe and defeated the Buckeyes. His first season saw the end of the longest W streak in the country vs another team, but Iowa State might be a very surprise team.
Nick Saban (Alabama) - It has been 11 years since he has been named COTY. Alabama is AP #1 and has dominated everyone. He is the best coach in recent history, if not CFB history, and he only has 2 COTY Awards.
Kirby Smart (Georgia) - UGA defeated Notre Dame and has dominated all their other opponents. They are a Top 5 team and could likely be 12-0 and face 12-0 Alabama for SEC Championship.
