If you actually look at the rankings Rice is horrible in every single computer and nearly every single poll. The only they look mediocre in is the Harris Poll which is a far outlier from every other measure.

It is the handed-out-like-candy rankings I'm debating, dunce. You answering with 'rankings' makes you look like someone with an SEC ejukashun... oh... wait...

Claim: "The rankings are biased"
Rebuttal: "But we beat better ranked teams"
:wtf2:
Dunce.

okay then what would you like to judge their bodies of work on? there is really no measure that shows michigan state has a body of work as impressive as auburn's. also, the claim that the rankings are biased has not been shown to be true. if anything, the SEC teams, by and large, have consistently lived up to their billing.

and again... who should have been in the title game instead of 2 loss LSU? you do realize that 2 teams have to play in the game, right?

Got it. You are going to run and hide from the fact that the only measure that they were mediocre at was the Harris poll. You probably didn't even look at the scoring.

I think Michigan State is a better football team than Auburn. Bodies of work:

AUBURN

Aug 31 Washington St. Won 31-24 ESPNU
Sep 7 Arkansas St. Won 38-9 FOX Sports South
Sep 14 Mississippi St. Won 24-20 ESPN2
Sep 21 @LSU Lost 21-35 ESPN
Oct 5 Ole Miss Won 30-22 ESPNU
Oct 12 Western Carolina Won 62-3 ESPN - Gameplan
Oct 19 @Texas A&M Won 45-41 CBS
Oct 26 FAU Won 45-10 FOX Sports Florida
Nov 2 @Arkansas Won 35-17 ESPN2
Nov 9 @Tennessee Won 55-23 ESPN
Nov 16 Georgia Won 43-38 CBS
Nov 30 Alabama Won 34-28 CBS
Dec 7 Missouri Won 59-42 CBS

MICHIGAN STATE

Aug 30 W. Michigan Won 26-13 Big Ten Network
Sep 7 South Florida Won 21-6 ESPNU
Sep 14 Youngstown State Won 55-17 Big Ten Network
Sep 21 @Notre Dame Lost 13-17 NBC
Oct 5 @Iowa Won 26-14 ESPN2
Oct 12 Indiana Won 42-28 ESPN2
Oct 19 Purdue Won 14-0 Big Ten Network
Oct 26 @Illinois Won 42-3 ABC Regional
Nov 2 Michigan Won 29-6 ABC
Nov 16 @Nebraska Won 41-28 ABC Regional
Nov 23 @Northwestern Won 30-6 ESPN
Nov 30 Minnesota Won 14-3 Big Ten Network
Dec 7 Ohio St. Won 34-24 FOX

State kicked tOSU to the curb after 24 straight wins and beat them decisively, 34-24. Auburn let Missouri score 42 points, beat both Alabama and Georgia on last second lucky plays.

State is getting robbed in my humble opinion.

They are not getting jobbed any more than any other one loss team. The only one loss team NOT getting jobbed is 'Bama, they lost head to head to Auburn. Baylor, OSU, UCF, UL, Fresno, and NIU all have a gripe, however weak some of their arguments are. MSU had a weak overall schedule, they played ONE decent OOC game and lost it, the B11 is down this year, and MSU played a weak schedule within the league.

its tough when most of the conf. plays each other so there are more losses. It nice in a conf like the SEC when you do not have to play the best in that conf. and you make up for that by playing FCS teams. Good job.

:lame:Have you ever looked at the B11s schedule???? Right now there is only one league where each team plays every other team.

Well obviously OSU isn't getting jobbed because you should put MSU over them.

That being said, and I will say it again, Auburn should be in the title over UCF, MSU, Louisville, Fresno and NIU. Stronger schedule than all of them and loss to a better team than all of them.

No, I did. And the sum of all the parts that is used in ranking the BCS determines spits out Rice ahead of 9 of 12 Big 10 teams. Do you think there is some huge conspiracy in the Harris poll to keep the Big 10 below Rice? Or do you think they just look at the teams and see that one won their conference and has no good wins and the other teams didn't win their conference, or come close, and have no good wins and maybe slot Rice ahead of them? I don't know if Rice beats all of those teams more than 50 times out of 100... but it doesn't appear there is much difference between Rice and the middle of the Big 10, one way or the other. Which is why it is funny that a middle of the road SEC team beat them handily and they got ridiculed for it. That is all, nothing more, nothing less.

Of course he didn't. The team that he claims is getting jobbed didn't only played half (1 of 2) teams that are ranked within their conference. The team he claims is unfairly in the game played over 83% (5 of 6) teams that are ranked within their conference.

This is true. However the pac12 plays a 9 game conference schedule as well. At one time we were the only conference that played every other member in the conference. Then expansion happened.

When the B12 really was, they only played an 8 game conference schedule. The move to 9 while a great change is fairly recent.

and for the better part of 2 decades the teams in the SEC actually contending for the BCS title game spot had to play a 9th conference game, against the winner of the other division. none of that garbage where the best team in the conference avoids the 2nd and 3rd best teams in the conference. this happened in the big 10 some. and would have happened this year without a conference title game (michigan state did not play ohio state or wisconsin).

It's like talking to a wall with sakau2007. If Iowa, Minnesota, and Michigan would have gotten the ridiculously inflated preseason rankings (and not been punished as badly when they lost games) like the SEC, your entire argument is moot. Your entire ranking theory is ridiculous, yet you find a way to use it in basically every post. Congrats, you beat some okay SEC teams that had inflated value all year, and got extremely lucky against Alabama.

Maybe if MSU had schedule a powerhouse like WSU for OOC they could have played for it all.

Missouri this year, Georgia the previous two, Alabama last year? Yeah it only happens in the Big Ten.

Eh tough to argue with quality of wins for Auburn ( even if some of them were flukey ) also Auburns loss is better than MSU's. Who would have thought in September that the straight screw jobs the refs did on the Spartans in the ND-MSU game would cost MSU a BCS title game chance??? Sad for MSU but it happens.

This is how fucking stupid people are. Since when is a loss better then another one. You Obama supporters need to pull your heads out and come back to reality. Holy shit your a special kind of stupid aren't you.

Since 2011 when despite having a weaker schedule, not winning their division or conference, and having already lost to the number 1 team, Alabama was gifted a second shot over a more qualified Oklahoma State.

look no farther than sec bias at its finest. clear example Alabama loses they drop to 4...we wont ever know but I think had Missouri beaten auburn then voters would have thrown Alabama back in there. ohio state loses and they are 7 I believe..

but hopefully some of the sec bias is starting to dwindle away....in my opinion starting the season with so many ranked teams is just a cycle. u can lose but play a ranked team the next week that shouldn't be ranked. going forward only teams I think should be ranked in sec are Missouri, auburn, Alabama and south Carolina. maybe LSU...and some of these should be outside of top 10...Alabama losing McCarron to NFL. and depending on what happens in bowl games.

Your Elite defense gave up 28 to Indiana? Join the club!

Guess maybe if you watched the game, you would of seen twice sparty turned it over in their own end....and one of the first plays indiana's RB took it like 70 yds.....they held indiana way below their season yardage total.....indiana was one of the top offensive teams in the big 10 until the end of the year...

LOL, you just don't get it.

The SEC started the season with 6 teams ranked, and now have 7 teams ranked.
The Big 10 started the season with 5 teams ranked, and now have 3 teams ranked.

So remind me which conference was overrated to start the season again?

Do you not think that Michigan at 17 was "ridiculously inflated"? Most people probably do.

If the SEC teams are so inflated, why do the computers bear out what the humans think, and also view the SEC as significantly stronger? Let me guess... the computer programmers award bonus points to teams that play south of the Ohio River just for fun, right?

Just get over it... The SEC have better teams and play better schedules. The top of the SEC is better than the top of the Big 10, the middle of the SEC is better than the middle of the Big 10, and the bottom of the SEC is better than the bottom of the Big 10.
