"we just beat each other up" holds a lot more water when you also beat up other teams and other conference champions even.

when you just beat each other up and then also get beaten up by the UCLA's and Notre Dame's of the world, maybe your conference just isn't that great.

Thank god we didn't lose to Georgia Southern

Not really sure why MSU has a worse loss than AU. Both ND and LSU aren't that good this year, IMO.

every human poll and every computer that i've seen has LSU decisively ahead of Notre Dame.

and even if you think they are equivalent losses, auburn has as many wins over ranked teams as the entire big 10 combined. that's 4x as many as michigan state.

Still rebutting with 'rankings ' when rankings are what is being questioned. That's a special kind of stupid. Wow. Still? Laughable.

auburn didn't lose to georgia southern and neither did any of their opponents that i know of. just sayin...

No, but an SEC team did lose to them. Michigan State didn't play UCLA or any of the teams you mentioned, either.

And Vandy didn't go 8-4 in the B1G, they went 8-4 in the SEC. That's bad, even you have to admit that much.

But Michigan State's opponent, Nebraska did (and got thumped at home by them incidentally).

And why is Vandy going 8-4 bad? Is it just because the name on their jersey? They aren't that bad of a team this year. Comparable to the 8-4 Big 10 teams that have been mentioned. Certainly nothing special, but if you overlook them and get a bad bounce, don't be surprised to lose. They beat Georgia and don't have any bad losses. Their season opener against Ole Miss was one of the most entertaining games of the year.

And to the guy who keeps talking about how rankings are coming into question so therefore they can't be used... get a life. That's like me questioning if Ohio State is any good and thereby any win against them is meaningless.

And it isn't just 1 poll, its multiple human polls and a multitude of computers. And guess what? They virtually all have Texas A&M & Georgia above those 8-4 Big 10 teams.

UCLA (9-3 overall) is a little bit better than Ga. Southern, you think?

Vanderbilt is a little better but not much. Georgia, Tennessee and Florida have more talent than they do. All of them should have whipped Vandy like a skinny school kid.

yes, i think they are. my point was that none of auburn's quality wins lost to georgia southern.

look, if you really think michigan state got robbed, then fine. you are nearly alone. auburn played a tougher schedule, beat more quality teams, and it really isn't close.

if you think it's all because of SEC bias, then fine. the fact remains though that the big 10 just didn't do that great in nonconference play this year. that's the reason the big 10 teams aren't ranked. what good wins does the conference have in nonconference play? if iowa had beaten northern illinois and nebraska had taken out ucla, and wisconsin had gotten a win over arizona state, and ohio state beat a 7 or 8 win cal team instead of a 1-11 cal team, then those 8-4 big teams would be viewed a lot more favorably.
