Michael Pineda has always had great stuff when he was healthy and he sure did yesterday. Hopefully, his arm is 100% and he can show everyone what he is capable of. I'm no Yankees fan, but I enjoy seeing a well played game and tend to root just a little bit harder for the guy coming back from an injury and having to prove himself.

If Pineda's good for the rest of it, he gives the Yanks a very good #1 starter.

Every start I keep expecting him to walk off with an injury.

Yanks are looking brilliant here cuz Montero hasn't panned out for the Mariners as of yet...as long as Pineda can stay healthy, of course.

No need to. He's using bullfrog sunscreen like everyone else for the extra grip. My favorite is when you see the sunscreen on a shelf, in the bullpen, during a night game, in a dome.

Tis true - the bullfrog and Buchholz first came to light at a Blue Jays game with the roof closed I believe.

Dice K practically bathed in it. And IMO opinion there's nothing wrong with that. If you look at Farrell's face when he went out to tell the umps about Pineda it was killing him. No one wants a guy throwing 95 to lose control and nail your player at bat so it's an unwritten law to let it go. But Pineda was so damn stupid about it he forced the managers hand.

LOL. Yeah - I remember some comment where he was like "He basically forced us to rat him out".

And he was right. Pineda should have called him and apologized for being such a fucking idiot along with apologizing to his teammates. The only word that came to mind when I saw the pine tar was "slathered". People in the bleachers saw it

Word is that Dice K used Soapland brand handy cream in Japan for the same purpose

He's learned to hide it in his butt crack so
1. it looks natural
and
2. nobody wants to check for it

And Brian McCann found out the hard way how to say "Smell my finger" in Spanish

McCann had to find a discreet nonverbal way to pass a message from the ump that Pineda should not actually stick the ball in his ass without actually demonstrating it

Harold Reynold claimed that years ago, Pineda wouldn't have gotten away with it, since the opposition would have done something about it, but today guys just don't care if the opposition cheats. Thought that was pretty interesting.

Interesting for sure. Is Harold Reynolds the new Joe Morgan?

See, back when I played, nobody would ever even attempt to pull a stunt like this, because we took this game seriously, and nobody would let this stand. We were serious about the integrity of the game.
