I thought the press conference was typical Riley. I found it interesting he said the Heat were hunting for a whale in free agency. Outside that... Miami wont come out and say it, but it looks like the Wade deal is on the back burner as both sides know he is staying in Miami. We need Whiteside, but I fear someone will bid him up to max money, and I can't blame any player for taking the most they can get, especially first big contract. I like our foundation of Winslow and Richardson, but I do believe Goran is expendable considering Bumpy and Richardson are on the team. If we can move him ... we should.

That, or charge the team with a technical for hacking. At least when they do it with under 2 minutes of a quarter - especially the 4th and OT - charge them with a technical. The stiffer the punishment, the less teams will be prone to do this shit.

You start opening up Pandora's box there. Like when a team is down 4 points and there's 25 seconds left in the game. Only way to come back is for a team to foul and hope they miss free throws. If that rule was in place, the Heat don't win the title in 2013.

I do like Ira's method though. At that point, a team that's trying the hack strategy is simply piling up on fouls and allowing the other team to get to the bonus quicker. Although I'm of the mindset that a professional basketball player should be shooting better than 50%. Hell, Whiteside was a shitty free throw shooter. He started taking a different approach and is now around 75%, where teams don't use that strategy on him anymore.
