no hit by 4 pitchers???
no hits happen every year...6 errors in a game is special
MIAMI -- David Wright doubled twice, snapping a career-high 20-game streak without an extra-base hit. And he finished 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored in the Mets' 8-6 win against the Miami Marlins on Tuesday.
Afterward, Wright said he finally feels like he's locked in at the plate, after an exceedingly quiet second half. He now has driven in a run in three straight games.
"It's nice to feel dangerous at the plate," Wright said. "When you're up there and you don't kind of have that feeling, that's what I go by more so than the results. ... It's nice to feel comfortable. It's nice to feel dangerous. And that's kind of what I've felt lately.
"The second half has been difficult. I've been searching and grinding to try to find something that I do feel comfortable with. You put forth the work and you go to the cage and you try this and you try that. To finally feel something click a little bit and carry it over into the game, it feels good and it's a positive."
MIAMI -- Hitless in his last 18 at-bats, Curtis Granderson is out of the lineup Wednesday for the second time in four games. Both times Kirk Nieuwenhuis has started in right field over the slumping Granderson, whose average has slipped to .210.
Terry Collins said he is trying to get Nieuwenhuis some playing time at this stage of the season. Still, Collins insisted, Granderson will be back in the lineup Friday in Cincinnati when the Mets next play. And Collins said Granderson remains his right fielder and will not start experiencing a diminished role.
Granderson is in the first season of a four-year, $60 million contract. He will receive $16 million apiece in 2015 and '16 and $15 million in '17.
Collins suggested the change to the NL and seeing different pitchers as well as the shift from hitter-friendly Yankee Stadium to Citi Field have hindered Granderson.
"But the way he's approached it has been outstanding," Collins added. "That's why I think there's going to be a huge upside. I think he'll come into spring training with a positive attitude and be ready for next year
