But I don't see why Beltre is going ahead of Arenado. Are we scared of more injuries for Nolan? I get Donaldson, sort of, but is there someone out there that can talk me out of taking Nolan 16th overall in my 15 team points league? There is absolutely no chance of him getting to me at 45.

Are you definitely going to draft a 3B??

I have no problem with arenado over Beltre... But I think you can go elsewhere for better value... Do the points favor anything? I assume it favors power, but is it pitching heavy?? How many pitchers do you start?? and is it weekly or daily???

In fact I might go pitcher pitcher...

Last year I went SP in the first three rounds. (Kershaw, Scherzer, Wainwright)

This year, we knocked down batter K's from -1 to -0.5
Everything else is pretty standard. HR = 6 points (each base, run and rbi) ...stolen bases are 1.5 and getting caught is -1.

That will close the gap for the hitters, but generally the best arms outscore the best hitters.

I'm assuming Clayton and Felix are gone at 15. I'm not prepared to choose between the next group (although Price is in my ear).

It's not a 3b thing, I just think he'll be a top 20 hitter...maybe top ten.

No, we don't need a 16th owner.

Are there keepers and the player pool is really light? How is he 16th overall? There's 5 or 6 third basemen I'd take before him.

If you are that high on him then you are answering your own question... I am not as high on him as you are, and see 3B to be deep this season(strangely enough)... I personally would not draft arenado so early, but if you think he will be top 10, he is not too much of a reach.. If he is even a reach...

Weekly starts.

C. 1B. 2B. 3B. SS. MI. CI. 4 OF. UT. (must be multi-position eligible). DH (real, 20 games last year, 10 to obtain position in year)... can also have a second C instead of DH.

5 SP
2 RP (must be closers)

Another thing, in points leagues I would be getting the best power bats available... always... Arenado is a decent source of power, but there are significantly better options... I would even draft Prince Fielder over Arenado...

You should think strongly about going closer closer in the 3rd and 4th...

I would love to do that strategy if I have the last pick... I think it might be the best strategy for the last pick if you don't draft pitching in the first 2 rounds...

Maybe less so in a points league like yours... But I want to hear about someone doing this strategy, since I doubt I will get that last pick...

I'm assuming it goes something like this...

1. Trout
2. Kershaw
3. Stanton
4. McCutchen
5. Goldy
6. Miggy
7. Edwin
8. Aubrey
9. Rendon
10. Cano
11. Felix
12. Bautista
13. Donaldson
14. Jones

Maybe Price goes somewhere there, maybe Tulo

I'm targeting Hanley and Arenado.

Prince? He goes with my Beltre scenario. They have been on the decline for a couple years and the trend isn't going to change. Arenado had 18 HR in half a season, and got better at every hitting concept there is. His trend is pointing straight up.

Of course chapman AND Kimbrel have to be available for this strategy to work... Might substitute Kimbrel for Holland, but Chapman might be irreplaceable...

Hanley and Arenado are ranked somewhere around #40.

And I would avoid Hanley... I know he still has SS eligibility, but he is playing LF this season... I don't trust players going to new positions, As baseball is as much mental as it is talent... I would also not be surprised if Hanley gets Hurt for this reason...

I would go Tulo with the 15th... I know he also cant stay healthy, but if he plays 120+ games he will be well worth your pick and then some, not to mention you will be able to pick up a FA who will be picked up because he is playing well at the time...

with the 16th pick I would Go best power OF... whoever that is!!!

I've usually swayed from Hanley for those reasons. I just have a feeling this year. He came to Boston knowing he would not be at short. I'm not scared of him in LF in front of the monster. Takes away risk of injury, IMO. And like I said, his dual eligibility that he'll obtain will make him a great option at UT.

I'm aware of their "rankings". Wouldn't be the first time rankings got it wrong.
