I didn't know anything about Matt Rhule before today, but what is so impressive about him. At Baylor he wasn't great.

He took over Baylor in 2017 and went 1-11 (Baylor missed a bowl game for the first time since 2009)
2018 he goes 7-6
2019 he goes 11-3 but lost to Oklahoma in the Big 12 championship game, and then lost to Georgia in the bowl game.

From what I read is that he is an RPO play caller. While that will work against subpar teams, it won't work against quality opponents and definitely won't work with the parity in the NFL.

So what am I missing here?

He’s crawfishing while his team flounders. He’s in over his head.

He’ll get a nice check and a good college gig in a couple of years. Meanwhile Baylor ended up with a better coach who actually likes his gig. And Carolina will start their next rebuild.

But since the Cowboys spanked this team, they have been an utter mess. And I haven’t seen anything to convince me that Matt Rhule has a clue how to correct it.

First requirement is getting and keeping McCaffrey healthy. Not sure the odds on that are great moving forward...
Second requirement is sorting out the QB room. Is Darnold any kind of answer moving forward? Maybe just for another season until the 2023 draft? Could Carolina be a destination for a QB desiring a trade/FA?

Completely agree on McCaffrey… that’s a position that they should be addressing at a minimum. Plain and simple - he is the pivot point of the offense and if he can’t stay on the field then they are doomed to similar results as the last 2 years. Not saying they have to replace the guy but they clearly need a legitimate “Plan B”.

As far as Darnold… he is what he is. There is a solid level of tape supporting what he “is”. And “an answer” is not what he is.
